This is the first mechanical maintenance job of any kind on the internals of this engine.

Its a 324,000 km old engine which has not had any sort of overhaul, only oil changes and tune ups.

Corteco nok brand seals were used

I marked each rocker arm with marker, so that they dont get misplaced.

Rocker arms should be re installed in exact same spot, where they were removed from, else the engine will become noisy.

The rocker arms and cam lobes become matched to each other

What was the price of NOK seals. I've visited the market today, the NOK Japan seals for Baleno were Rs.1350/- while the Taiwan made seals were for Rs.650/-

My car's engine is also not opened its around 200k. Keeping in mind the mileage of the engine and potential life till fully overhaul I think I should go for the cheap seals. The shopkeeper told me that there is no complaint of the Taiwan made seals. What you suggest

Get the NOK seals.

Your engine should be good for another 2 lac. Give it 10w30 oil, use t stat valve and make sure pcv is good

This is a pro step, and extremely critical, most people dont understand that the rockers wear match themselves to the camlobes.

i think that while the zddp deal is legit, using api sg oil (which is mostly 20w50) is equally bad, because it is too viscous (unavailable below xw40).

Choose the less bad thing.

On another note, we have a cultus that is around 80k run on 10w30 api sn, and it is perfectly fine.

The 10w30 flows alot better too, you immediately notice the higher flowrate , if you remove the oil filler cap after shifting from 20w50 to 10w30.

As per API, the newer api grades are reverse compatible with older ones.

my personal experience is, that the tappet noise is greatly reduced, my common sense says that more flow rate = less noise = better lubrication = less friction

So overall, i think 10w30 API SN is not too bad a choice.

in our case it was the synthetic nylon type rope, but i dont think it matters as long as it isnt filthy or it isnt made of steel. you dont need more than 4 ft of rope, and you just feed as much rope as you can through the plug hole, when cylinder is at bdc

Some numbers are written on each valve seal. 3.3, 3.6, 3.4, 4.4, 2.3....... what it indicates? Is there any intake and exhaust seals. Plz help the job is going on, need advice promptly
