there were a couple of vintage Bentleys in Pindi 15 -20 years ago. One was believed to be a 4 1/2 and the other was a Speed Six. The cars were taken out by some gora. 'alvis; has seen them, maybe he can give some info. If anyone has any pictures of these cars it would be a treat. Somebody get pictures of the Dir Lincoln Continental also.

thanks for calling me an 'uncle' - at heart I am still 25 and sometimes I struggle to come to terms with what I am and not what I think I am. lol......

I honestly can't even buy a set of new tyres for my Healey let alone buying a W108. I am sure other PW members would be interested.

Yes, it's an all alloy block and head engine. It has forged internals and steel sleeves. As such, people have turbocharged it without problems. Here are two resources that you might find interesting.

It is a rather big engine though, a bit bigger than a comparable American V8 because of the DOHC heads.

You can find this engine fairly easily in the Peshawar from what I've heard. Although the market being volatile, things may have changed. Best thing is for him to see what's available and go from there. Here's a little vid to show what it sounds like stock, and with an aftermarket exhaust.

A party piece of this engine is that it produces above 200lb-ft of torque from 1000 RPM. And anywhere from 256 to 300 BHP at 6k+ RPM.

The great Tazio Nuvolari driving his beloved Alfa Romeo, in the 38 Mille Miglia, chased Varzi in his Bugatti. At night he did not turn on his headlights driving with the aid of sidelights only so that Varzi could not know where he was.
It was only when the shrill of the Alfa's supercharger was heard by Varzi that the headlights came on and along with it the lead.
Nuvolari was then 48 years old.!!!

The two Bentley's Mohsin is reffering to were taken out of Pakistan in 1971.
Romano has tried to contact the person who had them, but due to the reclusive nature of the person, has not had much luck.

thats a modified 1941 Lincoln Continental except for windscreen which is from a 1940's Chevy and the rear is something else - certainly not Lincoln.

well the parts of this car are readily available here in pindi

the exterior is black nd excellent

i this there is some changes in the console of the cars interior but nt sure

The Dir Lincoln is in Pindi. The owner, Nawab Khusro khan of Dir is dead and unfortunately his son, Nawabzada Saleem Khan too. As I know his nephew, I will possibly try to get a few snaps. The British High Commissioner used to drive around in a Bentley till it was replaced with a Jag as his official ride. And we have a lovely MB 450SEL 6.9 in isloo too which belongs to a friend of romano.

The GTG is a great idea! We must do it sometime soon.

The 'uncle syndrome' has caught up with me too! I find it quite annoying (and amusing!) when neighbours' kids of good 13 to 18 years of age address me as an uncle and request to retrieve the cricket ball from our compound. At the 'tender young age' of 29 and a half I expect to be addressed as 'bhai at least by the 18 year olds!

 Theres a 60s S class Benz abandoned by the roadside in our area. Ill try to snap pics soon. Its sporting a Pindi number. Have seen a few young lads driving the machine around often. I was sure they were not 'the sort' who could maintain a Benz and now its abandoned for want of repairs. I guess they ran out of patience and money.

Anyone fancying a Benz project are forewarned that only those proceed who know a bit about Benz plus are aware at the high cost o spares which in my opinion is justified given the high quality of the same.

The Polara was spotted at a showroom by us near Delhi Colony. It has disappeared I see. Not sure if it was sold. If anyone is REALLY interested I can go to the showroom and enquire sometime. Pics must be dug up in this thread. Or were they never posted here???

That lancer used to have same reverse gear setup as that of beetle. One of my uncle's preferred it over corolla 82 and proved to be a very good companion. I did some of my early learning driving blunders on it so its memorable for me somehow

Those are all the pics I have. We know nothing of the demand or details since when we (Romano, a cousin of mine and I) visited the showroom it was closed and we just helped ourselves with the viewing and snapping spree.

The car seems to be in good hands given the clean and well maintained look. Im quite sure the owner would demand a handsome sum for it. So anyone looking for project/cheap car should not even think about it.

If anyone is really interested and has a good budget then he can enquire from the showroom between Askari apartments and Delhi colony approach going towards the ex-submarine chowk from Race Course.
