It's about time someone posted these pics! This Lancer was pretty good in rallying, before the Galant VR4 came along with the 2.2 litre Turbo.

When my father wanted to buy a new car in Malaysia, he was shifting between the GTO, an RX7, and a 3rd-Gen Galant Sigma GS. He ended up with the Galant as it was the best compromise. It had plenty of space, was fairly good on fuel consumption, and oddly, handled way better than the GTO on the rough roads that he used to drive on everyday. The engine was a 1.6 SOHC with twin twin-choke Nikki carburettors as opposed to the 2.0 DOHC on the GTO.

I remember seeing a dark blue Bentley in Islamabad. it had just passed me by. I wonder if it's the same you car you have mentioned. The 450 6.9 belongs to Tabboo, my humzulf.

Javaid Ibrahim accepted a golden handshake from PIA and shifed to Rawlakot, Kashmir. He took some car stuff with him and a couple of his loyal workers. I do believe he frequently visits Islamabad. Exceptional guy....

first glance at that Mit GTO and I though thats an odd looking monogram on an Alfa. There is a similar car in Karachi belonging to my dear friend Adnan Bhabha who has had this the from the day it was launched. His father was a Mitsubishi dealer in Pakistan way back in the 70's.

The British High Commissioner never had a Bentley, the first official car of the High Commission was a Rolls Royce Wraith with one of the most ugliest bodies ever made. The coachbuilder was Park Ward. This car was auctioned off in 1972 and probably is in Lahore now,there was a picture of it on one of the forums.
The second car was the Daimler limousine which entered service with what was now the British Embassy and was used by the Ambassador. This was replaced with later on a Jaguar and then as the Afghan crisis built up by a Range Rover with bulletproof glass and armour plating.

I've seen a Colt Galant 3rd Gen in Islamabad quite often. Although it's been a couple of years I haven't seen it. Maybe it's off the road now? It was bronze coloured with a huge sticker of a phoenix on the bonnet à la Pontiac Firebird. It still looked nice though, with Minilite wheels. It was (guess what?) converted to diesel.

-Iranian Ambo had a dark green 300SEL 6.3, where is it now?

Micro is solid rust free but its a project , all parts are there, engine is freshly rebuilt.

Romano - The Princess was previously in use of the British Deputy High Commissioner and was then sold to the Swiss Embassy. It was a 50's model and would not be surprised if the same car was the subject of pictures shown a few pages backward on this thread. ( Green colour)

The 6.3 was around Pindi till 1983 owned by a friend of mine. I nearly bought the car in 1983 but got put off by its rough idle and frankly it is the type of car for a 4 or 5 car garage.
Asking price was Rs 75,000. Last I heard the car was in Lahore rotting with some wannabe artist and is virtually a heap of junk.
What a sad sad end to such a magnificent driving machine.
When new it had a beautiful green colour with green leather seats and green tinted glasses and I saw the Ambassador driving it at very fast speeds in a then deserted Islamabad.
The Ambassador was the Shah's son in law and the colour choice reflected his extremely good taste. He was a daily visitor to the Islamabad Club and the ashtray would be full of Montecristo No 3 stubs.

I wonder if u have seen the Wolseley owned by Nusrat Ali Shah who lives in one of the streets on embassy road. Interesting car. By the way my bro-in-law knows u too - NAB, who's in NZ.

No, not in Islamabad now, but based in Pindi/Islamabad and Peshawer in the 70's and visiting very very frequently right upto 90's from Karachi.
Spend very little time in Pakistan now.

yep - a monster in the shape of an American V8. I remember this car from school days when Adnan, then a 13 year old and I would make his driver sit in the passenger seat - Adnan was a good driver. For me at that time the most thrilling aspect of the car was the tacho meter. It was fascinating to watch the needle jump to the red line in a sec......my father at that time had a boring one owner original paint Hillman Minx and a Toyota Corona Mk 1 so this GTO was something out of this world.

British painter Hal Bevan Petman owned a black Wolseley in Pindi during the 60s. I wonder if anyone has info on whether this car survived? If so, could it be either Nusrat Sha's or Mujahid Zafar's? Grateful for info, also (off topic I know), whereabouts of any Petman paintings.
