The club hasn't met for a long time now. Will get everyone over for iftari at my house one of these days. Folowing are in the pipeline:
1. Annual Car Show at the Forum - we expect about 90 cars.
2. Mumbai - Karachi Vintage & Classic Friendship Rally. 75 classics are expected fromMumbai across the Khokrapar.
3. Delhi - Lahore Vintage & Classic Car Rally. 75 cars are expected alsong with a lot of celebrities.
4. Lahore - Simla Heritage Drive
5. Karachi-Islamabad Heritage Drive.

Not sure which one would happen when. Government support is assured. We just have to get down organising it.

Nov - Feb is a good period and a couple of events would definitely be planned in this period.

I forgot to mention our 4 hour Heritage Drive in Karachi to highlight the well preserved old buildings.

I arrive in November 2nd week inshAllah. Ill probably go to work for the first half of the day, after that if you need any planning, Ill be glad to do my part.

This time please sir, we might need to get an escort from the police for the drive to highlight the buildings lest we forget the bus drivers and truck drivers from last time...i dont think we'll get the right strength of cars if we dont get a suitable thing, how about we have a slow speed cruise and the police cordon off the areas we're going to so the people can watch too? or is that wishful thinking

This is the '60 Dodge Mohsin is referring to. It was Dodge's lowest priced model and this car is a lost cause in my opinion:

Police escort is not a problem. Last time our route was such that it was difficult to avoide buses. This heritage drive will be within a contained area. I have shortlisted 15 heritage sites.....

Dodge Phoenix could be a good project for someone who doesn't have a classic car. For somebody like us, it's definitely not worthwhile.

Mohsin, for someone who doesn't have a classic car, this is the proverbial nightmare. The poor guy won't know where to start and how to go about it. For a first time classic car buyer, he would need something that only involves a fair amount of work, so that he can get off on an easy footing and learn from there, not a total ground up restoration.

This car needs someone who's been there and done that and then to pass it on to maybe a first time buyer.

well done on the Renault! I just logged on a few minutes ago and was surprised how attention quickly drifted away from this cool convertible, and how even some of our so callled 'experts' were shooting in the dark with comments like "Triumph!" When was the last time anyone saw a REAR engined one? Come on guys! But no need to get upset, just having a good humored dig at your (collective) expense! Alvis, what would these guys do without yr in-depth knowledge?

Thank you for compliment. The fact is that there were about four or five of these cars in Karachi. One was owned by a very very very pretty french lady who worked for Air France and lived in Bath Island. I would see her driving the car top down always with a white scarf over her head and her hair fluterring. What a sight and not easily forgotten. One of the reason the car came to mind so swiftly. Wonder where the other cars are, also used to see two Matra Simca Bagheera's here in the mid 70's.
Any luck with the Wolseley??

What Bentley being converted to RR. It happened once in Karachi and should never happen again. Bentley is such a special car.

don't want to disagree with you but first timers have taken on gigantic projects and have been successful....well in one case (see pic) this Firebird is now restored though I haven't seen it. Kashif says it's come out brilliant. This car had a missing steering, no leaf springs, missing suspension parts, no door window glasses or handles, no rear bumber etc. etc.

alvis's knowledge is undoubtable. But this pretty French lady with hair fluttering driving the car top down must have helped him recognize this car. I thought it was either a Skoda or a mix breed of a VW Variant/Sunbeam Alpine/Skoda etc. Jim thought it was a VW Variant. I don't know what Moin or you thought.

the 71 Dodge dart might be rubbish to a lot of people but then a lot of people might be tempted to restore/look after a dart because it might have sentimental or other reasons. Or they just might like the design. As a Club promoting the Classic car in pakistan you as "promoters" should not seen to show an elitist attitude.
if somebody likes and wants to restore a 64 0r 66 or 70 Dodge Dart then you guys should support them and not rubbish their choice for the only reason that you dont think they have a worthy classic.

Just to update all dart lovers the Dodge Dart 440 from 70 was amongst the most feared muscle cars.

The 440 Magnum was fitted out by Hurst and delivered 375 HP and could easily cut the 1/4 mile in 13 secs.
Car and Driver magazine had their test car stolen from their car park in New York and the October 1969 issue had indepth coverage of the theft. The thief was caught at the Ney York speedway where he had made mincemeat out of Corvettes, Mustangs and SS motors.
