Perhaps what alvis@PW was trying to say was that you people being the best in the field of classic cars, should give a more objective view about restoring cars to newcomers.
I'm similarly passionate about classics, but I'm a newbie with no practical experience. If I would ask about restoring say, a Plymouth Fury, I would like the people at VCCP to give me an idea of what to expect (it's no obligation on your part I'm sure, but that's what one would like you to do). For example, how much work it might take, how much time, where to get the requisite parts, where to have the fabrication done etc.
A comment like, "this car isn't worth the time / money / effort" really wouldn't make me feel too happy. Classic cars are about your personal likes IMO. If I like it, I'll want to restore it, no matter what other people think subjectively. But I'll need help in doing this, that's where people like you are more than worth your weight in gold.
I hope I haven't touched a sore nerve here, just wanted to share my feelings on the matter.
Cheers!
