do you want to put honda vtec in mini or its waiting for some other cars, well if you cant find Alfa Romeo engine then I will suggest that put a crown or Mark II 6 cylinder in it, If I bought the Alfa romeo ( which you have now ) then I will modify it with the japnese parts because I dont want to make it the most expensive Alfa

Delages & Delahayes would be in the exotic car stable which would include an Alfa Romeo 2900B, Mercedes 500K, Rolls Royce PII & PIII Aero Coupe, 1934 Packard LeBaron Speedster, 1932 Maybach Zeppelin DS8, 1929 Auburn 8-120 Boattail Speedster, Bugatti Type 57S Atlantic Coupe, 1931 Duesenberg Tapertail Speedster, Voisin 28CV etc. etc....Just check these cars out and you'll know why they are my favourites.

no deal....I have a basket case 1941 BSA M20 bike which safeer wanted. Someone offered me a 1947 Norton which used to be mine (is still in my name.....so I told Safeer that I 'll let my BSA go if I can get the Norton....there's a catch that Safeer is not aware of....(but will now findout ) along with the Norton, I was offered a mint BSA M20 also with a certain condition attached to it. I am waiting for that deal to materialise.

Seems to be a good plan. You'll have your work cut out for you though, to bring the engine up to snuff. I'm not at all updated on the availability of older Ford parts (or newer ones for that matter...)

Other than that, your specimen seems to be in fairly good condition. Good luck with the build! Keep us posted on whatever happens.

Nadeem told me that he had a talk with you and offered you several bikes, but I dont know whats strings are attached with the BSA bike he offered you :), everyone want a good deal and I will be happy if you get one , lets hope for the best

He had taken 100% payment from me for this BSA 2 years ago....I need to have a BSA M20 as its a Military bike and I have an original side car to go with it. if I dont get that one then I have no choice but to rebuilt the one I have. Norton came in between as he wanted to divert my attention from the BSA that he has.

I have a plan to send the car to the mechanic today or tomorrow and shall look for the parts accordingly....... I'll load pictures of the interior and the engine within a day or so....

I am however encouraged to see the earlier pictures of Mohsin's Lincoln 1947 in today's forum.... Restoration of Ford Cortina should be easier than a Lincoln..... but still needs a lot of hard work and patience.....

I have already experienced 11 month restoration of a dead VW Beetle 1200, 1970 without a single modification, which is still with me but I have not been able to make it a routine vehicle…….. Now, I am interested in selling the same to make a way to restoration of the VW Beetle 1302 1970 and Ford Cortina….

The actual problem is restoration to original. Unfortunately, almost all of our mechanics are more interested in replacement of engine, steering column and braking system with Japanese stuff........... On top of everything, when you go the workshop or any market (especially Bilal Ganj) to look for the parts, the vendors try to make a fool of you by charging you unrealistic prices……………. and then one realizes that maintaining a Honda, Toyota, Suzuki or any other Japanese car (up to 10 years old) is a much easier job……………

Temporary replacement of front seats (with suitable ones) is however acceptable as the same play a great role in making the driver comfortable thus encouraging him to drive the 35 to 40 years old technology… Same is the case with wheels / rims which definitely changes the looks of the car…

You are right in saying that people are more interested in a quick "restoration" than a proper "remise en état". I sincerely hope that you find all the original or at least improved modern reproductions of the original parts.

As far as seats go, I suppose you can have the originals re-upholstered to your taste?

Rims, steelies would be period correct. Original Minilites are worth more than gold these days, and they didn't come standard with your car, so I suppose, there's no point in blowing your budget on those. Although if you're tempted, I suppose you could buy some reproductions/copies?

@safeershah .. the dodge would have been made ready but for the fact that the Charsi denter has measles...or chickepox which at his age is quite dangerous.

As fo your comment for modifying the Alfa... sorry but no. This car is going to be correct even down to the magnesium alloys which Alfaholics have reproduced ( GTA wheels). The great thing about the Alfa is the handling and the engine. If one changes the engine the steering links and the boxes have to be changed along with the suspension geometry which destroys the car. The LAfa engine sound... I remember was it last summer... no two summers ago when Italy won the world cup an Alfa 1750 saloon accelerating in second on the North Circular in London.... the noise....was unbelievable. No Japnese engine can match that. NO EXPENSE SPARED RESTO...

This is one of the reasons I snatched the car... I knew it would go the Japanese way. My mechanics sometimes want me to do that but Ikram... my mechanic has now understood.

And dont think I am only a fan of European cars... I have the RX7 and 8. And the engine is a spare for the wifes car ... the B16 A DOHC VTEC sleeper.. with only 15 inch wheels and an SiR badge on the rear to tell it aprt form an ordinary Civic Dont race it often but have touched the engine cutout at 8000 rpm many many many times. Best modern engine in the world.....

The Datsun was returned to the road yesterday mechanics all done apart form the AC. Beautiful loping ride and great turn in response. The cosmetics will begin on the 28th

wow I think I hurt your feelings .... sorry about that:) , well I dont know about the custom policy now but I think correct me if I am wrong, you can have a nice Alfa around 5-7K in UK and bring it over here. how much Alfa engine will cost you ? I think this restoration will be more than a million in end but the way you love Alfa its nothing ,will be waiting for the progress.

Apart from the Romeo story, the 440 engine if it is , which is coming with the challenger is 60 era engine or later era? I hope all the parts will be there
