Assalam o alikum ,

i posted a topic abt HUmBER PULLMAN yesterday but i guess it was my mistake to post it in general auto talks , i should betta have shared the pics here .......!! well the pics r from the net (searched it on google) !!!

my grandfather bought Humber Pullman way back in 50s-60s dont noe xact year , which was an X-ride of president AYYUB khan ! Unbfortunately my dad dont have any pics of tht car , but he told me tht it was 1952 Humber Pullman , he told me tht it was 7000 cc but on net i have found tht it was 4500cc , but papa told me tht on pprs it was 7k cc !

they sold it in early 70s ! If any one of u have any real pics of the car or have the car pls share the pics n details !

I am a very infrequent poster on this thread but was at the annual Historic Races at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin, USA on Saturday July 19, where the annual Road and Track Concours DElegance is held and thought folks would like to see some pics.

Unlike some Concours, this one is split into two days - one for Racing/Track cars and another for sports cars. Also unlike most Concours, a requirement is that all cars be driven to the location - i.e. no trailers allowed.

Saw a couple of cars which are right up your alley (unrestored early AH3000 and completely original unrestored 220SE)

The white AH3000 below is all original (unrestored) - an increasingly popular Concours Category. The 220SE Ponton convertible was also unrestored - one family since new - 38,000 miles - not even a paintjob since new (verified by the concours judges)

The next few photos are for you . . . missed having you there since the red GTV was for sale at an absurdly low price and with the Mrs. out of town it was all I could do to stop myself from making an offer.

The red GTV is a "usual" 98-point concours preparation, with an immaculate interior. (Note the 'Roma' license plate up front.)

The blue GTV6 was even more interesting however - 3.0L engine with a Callaway conversion and the most incredible chiaro blue with gold Gotti five-spokes. Again, a 90+point presentation. Unbeleivable.

The red 280Z below was also an immaculate presentation - this owner even had the original brand/type of tires (Yokohamas) and toolkit/manuals with the car. Thought of your 240Z project when I saw it - may yours end up even better than this one.

Unrestored cars are really quite a big deal nowadays - the light blue/teal DB5 scored higher than the dark blue restored DB5 overall.

What do you think about leaving a car in "as found" condition, provided the mechanicals are sound?

After this show was over, "For Sale" signs started appearing on some of the cars. This restored 1966 Beetle, which was as immaculate as any other car there, right down to the toolkit and original delivery sticker, was for sale at an asking price of US $6,950 (negotiable).

Just thinking of the cost to replicate this restoration (with U.S. labor rates as high as they are) makes one wonder how the owner was going to break even on this deal. If we were allowed to import classic cars to Pakistan, this would be on its way already, along with the red GTV posted above!

Another car right up your alley - the maroon Alfa Giulia sedan next to the blue 356 coupe - I spoke to the owner since I want to use a similar shade of Glasurit maroon on my Porsche repaint and he said that it was more fun to drive than a GTV of the same vintage.

The judges docked some points on this car for the wing mirrors not being original (they were reproductions) and the wipers being a tad too large - talk about strict standards. Wonder what they would say about your Fiat twins . . .

I know of another Humber Pullman in bahawalpur owned by the nawab's family. You can call Majeed on 03017742910 to know more about the car....it is for sale.

thanks for posting these lovely pictures. The white Healey is actually a 100/4 not a 3000. Two easy visible difference are no handles on a 100/4 and folding windscreen. This is my favourite model among the Healeys and it looks brilliant in white.

As for unrestored cars, it is always a tricky decision how much to restore a car. Obviously it depends on the condition of the car but if the condition is reasonable...I prefer a faded, battle worn but original condition anytime....no comparisons for me. Over restored cars turn me off.

I posted this Jaguar S-type earlier in the thread as well - does anyone know if it has been rescued?

This car belonged to one of my relatives and was in great shape in the early 1990s. I took these photos in Garden Town Lahore in November 2005, where I had tracked it down. All the bits were there and no visible rust so it would make a great project for a sympathetic restorer. If anyone is interested I can probably track down the current owner again.

I think I know this car. This is a Jaguar Mk1 (not mark II). First owner was Mr. Avari. The engine inside this car belongs to the MK II that I recenly acquired for my bro-in-law. So to get the engine back I am interested in this car, let me know how much? One more thing, this car was restored by Javed Ibrahim in Karcahi in 19989-90 for its new owner who was an IG's son (or DIG) living in Lahore at that time. Now you tell me if this is the same car.

@waleed thanks for the emssage. Could not reply as I was busy operating the next day.... started surgery at 830 am and stumbled out of OT at 530 pm hardly able to stand. Age does catch up.

I am in serious circulation around the Jag... means that the only person I have to run it past or... NOT RUN|T IT PAST is the bitter half.
