Re: Jag in Lahore - I didn't realize there were so many Jag fans - I am in Chicago so it will take me a couple of days to track down the current owner, who I haven't met since 2005.

My relative sold it in the late 1990s and it has changed hands a couple of times since there. He recalled it was a '59 S-Type but I defer to Mohsin's expertise in identifying it as a Mark I (a Mark II 3.8 w/overdrive would have been much nicer in my book).

Will post info. as soon as I have it.

thanks....S type was introduced in the late 60's and had stainless steel window surrounds as against solid/painted as on a Mk I.

The S type had a longer rear deck similar to the Mark X, plus independent rear suspension. Not a very pretty car, and never achieved the cult following of the faster MK2.
Tahir/Kamal/Sophie's dad had a white one in KDA many moons ago. Any idea what happened to it?
I remember seeing photo of a rusted hulk on this thread some months ago... wonder if its the same car?

that rust bucket Jag was an S type owned by Tooba Doorani an interior decorator by profession and an ex-politician as well. She had bought the car way back in mid eighties from a showroom at Tariq Road. I remember checking it out and it was in absolute mint condition. Opening and shutting the door was a treat. It was black with red leather interior. Tooba 's bro who used the ca had a massive accident in another car and went into coma for a couple of years........here how it looked like when I saw it at Tariq Road

to take Romano's and Asad's endeavours a step forward, I have acquired the car that these blokes saved from the jaws of the Torch...car is going to be stripped to bare metal, body off .... Asad: I need a new carb for it. The present one is pretty bad. From where and how much?

no offence that beauty 57 chevy needs a diffrent paintjob dosent deserve the mucus paintjob , red is to overdone in pakistan . it needs some thing truly 50s american other then red

I am quite sure that this Bel Air was owned by a gentleman called Ibrahim Saturia who had another 57 and a 56 also. If it is the same car then it was imported by Mr. Hafeez Pirzada's mother.

I 'll tell you the owners name and ways to contact him....first tell me how much are you willing to pay for it. It's a series 2 4.2 2+2 coupe and is fairly original and complete. Infact lets get a figure from everyone who could be interested in buying it...I 'll PM the contact details of the owner to the highest bidder

well i cant really place a price on that without seing it in person but this is one of my fav models of the Etype...

is your beetle out of the workshop? i haven't brought the morry home yet.....tried starting it last weekend and realized that the pump's gone.....maybe that trip to your place was a bit too much for the old lady.....

i'll tow her as soon as your beetle is out....

About the Carby..... Brazil made Solex units are available in the market. Supply is erratic and stocks dont last very long.

We get a choice of two options. One is a factory rebuilt unit (Made in Brazil) which sells for around 5k Rs. Second is a brand new unit which sells for around twice the price.

Rebuilt units are also good I believe. Have one in my red daily driver 68. 

Let me know if you want to purchase one. Will pick it up for you on my next plaza trip which might be soon.

What is wrong with the carb on the car??? The accelerator pump had some issues but I believe it was fixed by Fred uncle.

Hope all is good with you. 

 Mohsin Bhai's beetle is out of the garage. You can stroll down and ask when they can comfortably take your car in.

 A 70s Beetle is currently at the garage having its engine fully overhauled. It should be out soon as the owner is going for a quick rebuild as the car is his daily driver. 

Looking forward to see the Morris soon. Hope it can be brought over to the garage without issues,  and yes towing it there is a sensible option.

I see you got an air cleaner for the bug! Good going.

Please let me know what exactly is wrong with the carb now. Maybe I can offer a few suggestions. Otherwise we shall go for a new/rebuilt one.

Oh yes! I want ring side seats for the rebuild if its starting anytime soon.

not the ringside seat only ; u 'll get the passs into the dressing room as well. Car that day stopped on the way as the carb got flooded (my assumption as I wasn't there - pappu told me that when he got a mechanic the car started immediately). Later in the day I took it to Phase 1 to check work on the Nissan, the car was idling (fast) but suddenly stalled by itself. Then it wouldn't start...we left it for a while, it started. Tried to set the idling as it was too fast but it wouldnt idle so kept it on the fast setting. Will open the carb to check the condition
