i agree with what you have said with refernce to VROD, its an awesome piece of engineering, although the Harley fans were quite dissappointed initially, the primary reason for that was the engine being water cooled.

The suceess of VROD could be assessed thru the introduction of two new version. Night Rod Special & VROD Muscle. I couldn't get the sales figures, but the I am sure folks at Harley are quite happy with the sales of VROD, otherwise they would have never brought 2 new versions.

Further more, VROD cannot be compared to a Hayabusa, it should compared with cruisers which could be ,,,,

Suzuki's Boulevard series
Honda VTX or Shadow
Yamaha's Star line of cruisers.

Harley has a specific group of people, not every one would go after a bike which starts from 19,000 USD compared to a japaneese cruiser which would come for 15,000 odd USD.

thanks for the info though im not a big fan of the 57 chevy i still love every old american from the 50s . good to hear it still has the original power plant .

since you are quite into 50's Americana, there's a 1950 (+ - a year or two) Studebaker Convt. (RHD) in Karachi. The owner died some years ago and the family is holding onto the car for the time being. Though they have left the car as it was parked by their uncle and have not bothered to clean it or put it up on jacks. The car is in Nazimabad near the KFC.

oh good a stude is quiet an unusual car to come across in pakistan especialy from the 40s and 50s when people tended to go for a GM product rather than the under dogs . mohsin bhai do you know what condition the car is in ? talking of the 50 51 stude it kind of reminds me of a 190sl if that speeding bullet as it was known on the stude wasent there.

the car was very original and complete but would require total restoration....it was lovingly kept by it's late owner. There was another early 50's Stude Commander (bullet nose) in Karachi with Dyer family. I had last seen the car 20 years ago in a factory in S.I.T.E. area.

Talking of 50's Americana's....I had seen a rare late 40's 4 door convertible Kaiser Manhattan which was ex Liaqat Ali Khan's car. When Isaw it in a workshop in Karachi. it was with Dyer family. I wonder what happened to it.

wow where are these amazing cars some one needs to rediscover them yes from what i hear kaisers where pretty nice cars but like all of the other good cars like packard hudson and so on they just couldent keep up with the corporate giants ... although i dont hate any thing from the 50s and to me it dosent matter what body type it is still love all of them but the wraparound windscreen chrome and finns just scream 50s and that just make me drool . mohsin bhai how many 55 buicks do you know of in pakistan ?

I got a call yesterday from a car collector in Jaipur and he asked me a similar question ,"how many late 40's and 0's Buicks in Pakistan"....he is looking for a straight engine for a Buick he is restoring....Fariha Altaf has one shown here when I first saw it in Lahore in 1990's. Can't think of any other 55 Buick right now

some pages ago we had discussed Buicks in Pakistan....I don't remember any other '55 Buick apar from this one...Fariha may not sell as she uses that car....but can always ask her and will let you know.

I am sure Mohsin can shed some light on the subject, specifically on if FC models are still present in Pakistan. I have personally not seen any. Pakistan does have numerous early jeep models such as MB, M38, and CJ series. Here is a brief on the FC. Notice the wheels which are identical to the MB Jeep which is claimed to have helped win the war for the Americans.

FC-150
The FC stands for Forward Control trucks in production from 1956-65 'were essentially CJ-5s with a pickup bed and a flat-faced cab mounted on top of the engine. The FC-150 was mechanically nearly identical to the CJ-5. FC-170 models had a 103 inches (2,616 mm) wheelbase with a 108 in (2,743.2 mm) bed.'

It was also produced in India by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited in Bombay and in Spain by VIASA (Vehículos Industriales y Agrícolas, S.A.) which I think stands for Industrial and agricultural vehicles company.

this Bel Air was posted earlier also. The owner Zain wanted 6 lacs for it....at that time a pillarless 1956 in better shape was up for sale for 150,000/-, I told him to price it realistically but I guess he didn't heed to my advice as this desirable car is still unsold....I wonder how much he wants now
