Thanks for the encouragement. As for the fiberglass, well with a little patient work and some bondo the finish should be pretty good.

The weight distribution is actually pretty good. The engine and tranny weigh in at 150kgs whereas the rear transmission and me (30kg + 90kg) weigh in at 120kgs. The fuel tank at the back makes up for other 30kgs. Colin chapman knew what he was up to when he designed the 7…and I personally love the FR layout.
An Ariel Atom clone (or thereabouts) would be a great project as well….and youre right about more engine options for a mid engine configuration. I’ve come across 4th generation Toyota 3SGE’s (rated at almost 200bhp) used in Celicas and MR2s in Peshawar….almost picked one up but thought id finish the 7 before moving onto another project.

You’re from the old school aren’t you. Waise I agree a classic 7 look with flared fenders would look superb. Btw I have decided on what look I want to go for… hint: a retro modern a pre war Alfa… or type 35 Bugatti

Btw if anyones interested Ive to loads of build info on lotus 7 clones. I’ve even convinced two other guys to start projects…
