Thanks for the encouragement. As for the fiberglass, well with a little patient work and some bondo the finish should be pretty good.

The weight distribution is actually pretty good. The engine and tranny weigh in at 150kgs whereas the rear transmission and me (30kg + 90kg) weigh in at 120kgs. The fuel tank at the back makes up for other 30kgs. Colin chapman knew what he was up to when he designed the 7…and I personally love the FR layout.

An Ariel Atom clone (or thereabouts) would be a great project as well….and youre right about more engine options for a mid engine configuration. I’ve come across 4th generation Toyota 3SGE’s (rated at almost 200bhp) used in Celicas and MR2s in Peshawar….almost picked one up but thought id finish the 7 before moving onto another project.

You’re from the old school aren’t you. Waise I agree a classic 7 look with flared fenders would look superb. Btw I have decided on what look I want to go for… hint: a retro modern a pre war Alfa… or type 35 Bugatti

yup i will get a vespa but i still see them in greater numbers than lambrettas + i dont know why but i like the lambretta more som il probably get one as soon as im back that is if i get lucky.

Sorry bro, things north of 4 cylinders are very hard to come by… I’ve seen inline 6 from the F series Toyota Jeep engines (low on horses but decent on torque) these were common in the FJ land cruisers of the ‘70s. I have heard of ‘80s and early ‘90s Supra engines but haven’t come across one so far. I’ve also seen some old crown engines (M series I think) but these things are bulky and very low on horses… 110-115bhp max. Correct me if I’m wrong but you’re the guy who’s restoring the “vanishing point” challenger… I would put a 426 Hemi in it if I were you… I know a guy in Karachi who was sitting on a 6L chevy engine from a H2 Hummer…. But putting a chevy engine in a dodge would be criminal. Btw I just realized something. The Pak army had lots of Dodge D series pickups with both I6 and V8 options… theres a guy off the super highway towards Gulshan e Mehran who had a few some months ago.

The Old FJ cruiser crown I6’s would be between 30-40K. btw these are carburetor engines

4x4, haven’t given those a though, dunno of any FWD engines that can be mated to a regular 4 wheel drive transmission from a jeep. Using a 4x4 engine and tranny from a jeep/pickup would make the thing huge… the only small 4 wheeler I can think of is a Mitsubishi mini Pajero…. Dunno much about it tho…

Acha! Vanishing Point makes an honourable mention here...hmmm; BTW, Charlotte Rampling makes a cameo appearance in it. The redneck in the XKE really gets his come-uppance (one word or two?) at the bridge dont you think?

i suggest u to get the mercedes w126
3 litre engine

its a semi EFI, with very few electronics

or in peshawer

there are many 2.8litre L6 engines of the
mercs w116, w115 as well,

thanks for dedicating these pics to me. I must visit this museum the next time I am in UK. The surprise party was quite ok....your visit to my place is long overdue so must come over soon. I hope you are on the up in this roller coaster life of ours. I have been in pretty stressful times as well and cars are on the back burner for a while. You are more than welcome to come over and discuss your issues if thats alright with you....u can throw some of your problems my way if that helps.

that 47 Vespa is so tempting - if I could buy it ( I wouldn't) I will remove the rear seat and replace the non original rear light with the original round and small. I have found another 47 Vespa, yet to see it though. I have made an offer sight unseen and lets see if I get lucky.

yeah I am restoring the challenger, finding a era correct engine is very difficult in Pakistan, I am lucky enough to get two dodge V8. my friend 426 engines are very rare even in US and can fetch top dollars a single block.

could you please check if a subaru impreza engine, its a boxter engine , I hope it should be available there.

My Tiger 100 is not for sale - I hope I dont have to sell it. I want to start restoring it soon. Have brought my Healey 100 out from the back burner and have started wrk today. 30th Nov is the project dead line.

not very keen on MB engines generally. 6 cyll of the 60's era was a beauty, 70's & 80's engines are pretty crappy except the 500 V8 560 V8. I am no guru but this is my opinion based on various experiences with a MB engine.

I remember Libra saying something about a Stude but don't remember what. The Stude's I know of in Pakistan are 1) green color 1951 Commander with Dyer family in Karachi, a 1930 Stude that KC's friend just bought from Lahore, my uncle had one in Lahore in 1950's...thats about it as far as my knowledge goes.

Nadeem's bikes that he has been seen in in recent times were all in great condition when he bought them. The Sunbeam and Matchless particularly. He hasn't done anything on them except polish. His bro-in-law has a huge stockpile of used parts - though all good bits have been bought by Kallu and Zakir. Then there's another character Yusuf Nawab who keeps getting parts from here and there. The best source to buy classic bike parts is New Delhi where I know this guy who doesnt retail parts but if someone knows him well enough he lets you buy parts from him. he manufactures new parts under license for brands such as Dunlop, Lucas, Norton, Triumph, BSA, Harley & Indian. I have been to his factory and bought a bag full of parts for my Tiger 100 and Speed Twin including Dunlop tyres

We have another Studebaker in this area. Seen some years ago in Peshawar and later in Rawalpindi parked near the old BCCI bank on the Mall , maroon 4 door, late 40s shape. Any input?

try mopar.com or mopartsracing.com, hemi crate engines are easily available from mopar outlets in the US. although youre right when you say the 426 is expensive... not as expensive as a 528 Hemi or a 540 Hemi though.
I'm currently living in Lahore because of work but I make sure I visit Peshawar (my hometown) atleast once a month. Although its unlikely I'll be able to get hold of any Subaru engine...let alone an imprenza. Peshawar is all about toyotas, suzukis and Hondas... mercs, mitsubishis and nissans can be found as well.

merc engines are pretty much bulletproof till they go wrong, I think our mechanics havent really figured them out... My grandads w115 (240) has been running strong for over 30 years now... I dread the day the engine will need an overhaul...I dunno if the mechanics are upto it.

an era correct 426 engine is two fold expensive then a crate 540 hemi, do you have any idea how much a 540 hemi will cost after custom and transportation ?
