This is a modification.
the stacks were only introduced even in the US on the 108 body style sedans..the same model year coupes and convertibles...
i am no experct on mercs either but my uncle, najaf and my elder brother zaigham most definitely are.
they too are sure this is a mod

Been too involved in work lately but still visit the site nearly every second day.

The ponton is a modification ala local style. To be fair these cars had the most terrible headlights and most were converted into something better or the other.

qasimshah, the "stacked" headlights were introduced on the W 111 series and contrary to general belief they were not specfic to the US market. You could order your W 111 series with the stacks in Europe too.
And they make the car look much more better too.

Hello all, pics taken in London last week. The Merc is a 280C Auto. Saw 4 VW campers, mostly in the same white orange paint scheme.
The little white Toyota is part of an expo of Japanese minicar design at the Science Museum. Very informative, though ticket pricey at 8 Pounds

thats a horrible looking, mutilated example of a Morris 10 or Hindustan. Non original rear bumper, rear lights, steering, wheels, seats, dash except meter, front lights, rear view mirror, grille with Merc centre mesh-front has been modified. Cars such as these don't command respect in the classic car world. It's negative collectors desirability doesnt justify restoration of this car.

phase 1 was the resto of the chassis, frame and mechanicals..phase 2 is the outer body panels....this one is a 100M thus complete alumnium body (on my car, bonnet, doors and fenders are steel and rest of the body is aluminium.

I can't compare to this though I did take the car totally apart, restored every part out of the car.but the main diference is that the above car was in much better condition before resto, they put brand new door skins,rear fenders and virtually everything...while we make do with whatever there is on the car. Then I am doing it on a tight budget where is this car is like a blank cheque resto by a specialist....my car will be at the show Inshallah....u judge
