Sir the buick was spotted in cavalry ground. the owner is not selling the car. he is restoring it. the car has its original engine and interior had all its fittings.

The Buick is looing for some assistance with restoration. I had told him that I would try and get somebody from Lahore to advise him. Please let me know if anyone of you can guide him for getting denting, painting, minor mechanical and upholstery.

I've come across a 74 Dodge Charger.. Saw the ad in yesterday's Dawn.. The guy's saying its a Ram Charger.. I called him up and he said I should call him up tomorrow to arrange a meet.. Is it worth going for to restore?

u sure its a charger. a ram is an SUT also produced by dodge.obviously u would know. get a few pics if u can.

I know bro, I was scratching my head myself, then I went through the Wikipedia entry for Dodge Chargers, and saw a term there, "Ramcharger hood". Its basically a hood scoop that pops up when the driver presses a button that's somewhere on the dash. I was wondering if this could be it.
The car's got a 2.8 Diesel, not sure exactly which one it is though as the guy has zero information on it himself, apparently.
He's asking 200k for it.

My 2 cents...

Restore the car only if you have an attachment to it. Not because of its perceived value. Sure, some classics are less valued than others, but that does not make them any less desirable to many people. I'm a huge fan of Jap and European classics. In the case of American metal, I'm more into the muscle cars, those too the relatively smaller ones. It's a personal thing. Think hard about why you're restoring the Charger. If you think you'll be able to toil over it, then by all means go for it.

The Dodge is discussion here is not a Charger.......though the owner has claime that it's a Ram Charger but this needs to be verified. I have attached a pic - its visible behind the wheel....which belongs to the Dodge.

Thanks for the reply bro. The thing is, I have been looking for something to restore for quite some time, and yes I love muscle cars. I grew up in Saudi Arabia so I've seen my fair share of classics there, and fact is, I would be more than happy to turn this Charger into something I'll be keeping for the next 50 odd years I'm planning on staying alive..

I'm a huge fan of muscle cars, and this 74 Charger definitely qualifies as one. I've been looking for something that I can restore and eventually turn into a project car. So I'm either going to restore it, or I'll turn it into a project car. As far as the affordability part is concerned. I can afford to keep this beast as long as I keep the diesel. Whenever I have enough cash running in, I'll slap on one of its original engines

I've been jumping around from car to car, in search of a decent specimen. I came across a '71 Celica some time back, on Pakwheels infact, but it was in a very poor condition. Wasn't worth the effort. My mechanic almost fainted when he saw it, and I've been looking for a decent model since. I've finally come across this Charger (One of the cars I fell in love with ever since I saw Dukes of Hazard (1969 Charger) for the first time!) and I definitely want to restore it, but the question is, is that car worth it. I was wondering if anyone else here has come across it and has seen this specific car before. Anyhow, I'll be checking the car out in the next few days. Will post pics.

That's definitely not a Charger though. Its shape is all wrong for a Charger.. Should be more streamlined.. That looks like Wagoneer crossover :S

No problem at all! I just wanted to re-iterate the competence of the people I wrote about. They can help with anything under the sun.

The Charger is a very cool car. Although a bit big for my tastes. Running around with the Dukes of Hazard Charger - Confederate flag and all - won't raise as many eyebrows as in the States, so you're good to go. It would be a hoot though, a rumbling muscle car that can lay "elevens" as long as you dare. If orange is too loud for you (I feel it isn't, but still), you can go for the matte black one from "Blade".

You'd probably would know from my sig-line that I've got a weakness for resto-mods. All that I need to do is to start earning proper money and then maybe I can taste some action :d

As for the Ramcharger, it is really the Durango's grand daddy? Well, the 440 sounds nice. Of course not in its original 200-odd BHP guise. Not so sure about the handling though...

That's definetly not what you are looking for.
My advice is that you pick up a reasonable W 115 Mercedes with a diesel engine and get to restoring it bodily and the interior.
You can use the diesel engine as a daily runner while still working on the car and at the same time try sourcing out one of the twin cam 2.8 litre engines which were the most powerful engines available in this series. You can install this engine when youre tired of the diesel work horse.
One of the simple reasons why this is a good idea is that spares are available, both new and used and they are simple cars to work on, but at the same time will make you a proud owner/restorer of a quality engineered car.
