Its a 1500 cc in-line 4. I am helping my friend out with repairs. The car had been off the road for over 10 years. A few hours of work saw it back on the road. Engine is quite good, brakes and rear suspension redone. Cooling system will be looked at today - then the car gos in for body work.

That's what I was thinking, a great big honking Ford 289 V8. Although, if memory serves me right, wasn't it the Tiger which was supposed to have the V8? That said, a Sunbeam is a Sunbeam Sami utters words of classic car heresy

The Tiger was an interesting story, and not just its intro to the US market (similar to the AC Ace/Cobra) but its untimely demise. When the British Rootes group was acquired by Chrysler, the fact that they were now selling a competitor's (Ford) 289 CID powered Sunbeam somehow did not go down well with the Executives of the Pentastar, so the car was axed. Sunbeam Tigers are now sought after by enthusiasts. Its most memorable small screen appearance was the 60s TV series Bond spoof 'Get Smart.'

The Sunbeam Alpine also features in an early Bond film car chase, anyone care to tell us which one?

I can hardly consider myself a movie buff, but I do remember seeing one of the earlier Terminator movie which showed Arnold driving an Alpine like crazy

I remember Arnold driving like crazy, but it was a red C1 Corvette in "True Lies". I just love that car :! True, it handles like Ben-Hur's chariot, but what a soundtrack! A pair of Dirty Harry sunglasses, a weathered black or brown leather jacket, and short cropped hair, Muaah! perfection! *I can do all of that, and throw in a beard as well - except I don't have the car...

wow...an S code...haha..its been awhile since ive even driven mine..ive been in Melbourne, Australia for the past year and a half...i look forward to the day I drive it again inshAllah...mine is a J code however...its the 302 with the 4bbl....its getting rarer as time goes by....not taking anything away from the S-code...always wanted a S or the R....one day inshAllah..so you sold the car? Matching numbers is an issue...I had a full marti report done on mine...so I can understand where you were coming from!!

You don't need the hair to look cool. Look at Morpheus of the Matrix Trilogy Granted he is a different hue - but still What you need though is the car. And in Candy Apple Red. Straight through pipes. Top down. Woah! That'll be lovely!!!

Tiger on the back burner for teh time being. Have worked 24/7/365 X 2 on getting my Mustang, Healey, Fiat and Kamran's Jaguar back on the road. I am on a go-slow on resto work till I get my messy financial situation back under control (Inshallah) - Though worked on my '49 Speed Twin last Suday and it's back on the road with a roar. Repair and maintenance work carries on as usual, Inin last one week have fixed the o/d on my Healey, figured out a fuel vaporisation problem, got a new Lucas gear driven fuel pump, fixed the handbrake on my Fiat and started a new project doing up a Sunbeam Alpine for a friend.

You should have stopped us when we passed by your house - here's one pic from last Sunday that I took sitting n my Healey outside Jim's house,
