Hi there, I am Sid from Bombay. Was wondering if there are any Split bug's in Pakistan. Very keen to know if you have any pictures of the same and if those can be shared. In India there are no Split screen bugs as yet although there are about 1/2 dozen Ovals which I am aware of.

Nice to have you with us here. As Mohsin bhai has already said, there is only one known Split window bug in the country and he is the proud owner. I have heard stories about a couple more but I would say they exist only after I see them. Quite often what is said to be a 50s bug turns out to be a later example or some wannabe mostrosity.
There has been a discussion about the presence of VWs in India. In my opinion (pl correct me if Im wrong Sid), VWs are rare cars in India and one does not see them as a common sight on the roads. I dont think they were officially imported into the country. My own Chacha who came over from India was quite surprised to see my 68 bug in our driveway. He had never seen a rear engined VW before.
My own observation comes from the good ol' Indian movies......the ubiquitous chor police car chases, cheesy songs when the hero n heroine paint the town red dancing in the streets....never have VWs as common vehicles on the roads. India's roads do have some interesting vans which I guess are old Fiats which some people mistake for VW buses. There was however a classic movie starring Amitabh in which a yellow bug starred as a major character. Oh and one starred as a jinxed car in a TV serial recently. That was a sixties car with the nickname Roxanne.
Hope to see you participate in this forum in future too. Do you have a VW club in India too??? We would like to hear about it. I am good friends and in touch with Javed and Zubeir Moin who head the Volkswagen club of Bangladesh. They have some amazing VWs to show and are themselves very nice people.
