I haven't been to Alfaholics before, and yesterday, I found what I was missing. The GTA replica looks very nice indeed! I can see why you're tempted. I'm a bit unsure about the engine prices however, since a secondhand 156 or GTV with the modern equivalent of the engine secondhand can be bought cheaper. However, it's like comparing apples to oranges. The engines in question are also, I imagine, blueprinted and period correct, so that would account for a lot as far as originality goes.
As for your door handle query. I'm not sure if the scales of production would allow such a modification to be financially viable. Also considering that during the time when this Alfa would've been produced (late '60s?), Pakistanis in general wouldn't have been bothered. That said, assuming that this car was for all the middle eastern markets, then production volume might have allowed such a modification, also, the definition of economically viable has changed in the last 40 years or so, so I wouldn't be betting against such a change either.
