@Wasifali: Are far as the owners of the red T-Bird and Camaro are concerned, if they're 'annoyed' that's just too bad for them. If they have issues, tell them to come and speak to me. I know them as well. My friend told me he was told not to take pics but I made him take whatever pics he could on my insistence. He is not to be blamed. The people at the workshop 'may' have asked him not to upload any pics (which they did not btw, they just asked him not to take any pics) but they did not ask me. The pics were taken out of enthusiasm (in addition to the above reasons) and to show others new discoveries which they have not seen before and for the reasons that Mohsin has also mentioned. There are true enthusiasts and there are those who do not care and will let their cars deteriorate and fall apart and neither of the two will ever see eye to eye.

The specific reason I requested these pics to be taken was because I wanted to see if this car was a fact or a myth AND I wanted it to be added to the 1961 Thunderbird registry in the USA which keeps track of all surviving '61 T-Birds which have the lowest survival rate of all T-Birds. This car will be added to the T-Bird registry showing one more '61 T-Bird is out there as a survivor and if the owners are not willing to appreciate that fact even now then there is nothing much I can do about it.

They need not worry as I'm not the least bit interested in it (I have the same car, I had 2 of them actually, pics of which are posted here a few pages back) and even if others people are interested, the chances they will actually go and buy it are next to nil. Many people show interest in buying these cars but balk when it comes to the price and actually getting down to buying it. I've seen it one too many times. They expect to get the car in the range of Rs.25K to Rs.50K and not a penny more and besides if the owners do not wish to sell them, that's their prerogative, no body is holding a gun to their heads and neither are these cars golden chariots that all and sundry will come clamoring to buy them so they should have nothing to worry about.

If they are so possessive about these cars then maybe its time they did something about getting them back on the road and they should realize that keeping these cars in this state of non-use and disrepair is the worst thing you can do them. Its almost an injustice and I'm sure many here will agree with me, so the owners of these cars will find themselves quite alone in their sentiments.

1- NO one is interested to talk to you regarding a small matter about posting some pictures and debating on small issues like many WAILAY people usually do in our country,

2- you as an elder person are still not realizing the thing i posted earlier and are giving arguments to defend ur deed that shouldnt have ben done in the first place

3- if u wanna get it registered in the USA, u could have done it without posting the pictures in this thread, there is NO point of boasting your spotting (which also wasnt yours)

4- not to mention that these pictures were not captured in anyway from ur reference, nor on ur insistence anything happened, kindly abstain from fooling anyone around

5- the problem is that the people with 25k to 50k offers are the trouble for any such person who doesnt keep this car at a lock as if its GOLD, maybe they dont care for such a car and still dont want to sell it, maybe its just a piece of SCRAP IRON for them, so its the owners game to play, not us to decide

6- its there choice to sell, keep on road, posses or even register or whatever, its thier belonging

7- i wouldnt have said a word if these pictures were TAKEN BY YOU, but atleast if u have the manners of international forums and as i see you are going by the rules, then post in the REFERENCE of how these pictures were taken ? and who took them ? and who are you to post them ?

8- then you are authentic to post wherever you want in the USA

lahore registered. posted for sale many moons ago.
its white and pretty decent..but would need some body work to become pristine.

i did not mind a bit when the pics of the thunderbird etc were put up. maybe felt a bid sad at the condition of the cars but that was all... and i am well known for my outspoken opinions in my professional as well as my personal life.... and i dont pull any punches either.

When the objections to the pictures came up it reminded me of another fiasco.. there was a young woman who eloped with her tutor in Lahore many years ago. The parents took the couple to court to protect the families " IZZAT" and later had her murdered.... end product more IZZAT for the family.. Same thing going on here..Societal trend.

Please just let this subject lie and end here just in case the whole thread gets started on what is being done to the cars etc. and the whole matter blows up further.

Let us end this right here ... PLEASE

Waleed nice to hear from you.

The correct wheels are the GTa replica wheels available for 450 sterling. These will be on the car... the BBS cross spokes were put on because I hated the previous momo replicas and these are extremely light..

so with spacers that were required to convert the PCD the suspension would not be overstressed. However worry not the parts that were so kindly lugged by you across half the globe will be put on only once I have the bodywork done and the new wheels here.

I'm not too keyed in on Alfas, but I thought these wheels were of the pressed steel type? These in the photo seem to be alloys. Are there two versions?

p.s. The mesh wheels might look better with a gold mesh section - although, it will look a bit German.

happen to notice this thread in passing from my usual hang out in the audio forum. the first page had me hooked, the first post had me in love and after that, well there was no turning back. being recently married did not help as wife found me sitting in front of laptop looking at cars most of the times i was home. she is quiet understanding (God bless her) but like all better halves, has a tendency to turn in to bitter half at a moment's notice. and then the famous words of neuro sahab (or was it mohsin sahab) came to my mind and i told her k "shuker kero they are only cars"

when i started reading this thread i made up my mind to read it through to the end and learn as much as i can hope from it. i love cars and specially old ones. something about these straight lines they have these days in new models dont attract me at all (this statement is applicable in more than on way if you get my drift). i still have a lot to learn about classics and in future i hope to have a classic of my own and restore it.

i found the thread to be vey informative and entertaining. to see the car in their sorry states and watch them slowly and steadily through restoration process was a treat in itself. one of my favorite bit is when a member had his first ride in mohsin sahab's mustang... i felt as if i was in the passenger seat with him. i also got emotional when i heard of the vadera torching the 540K just because of his "hut dhermi"..

i do not own a classic. my first memories of a car is of the Honda Accord 85 model my father had imported brand new. it was maroon in color and the only one of its kind in hyderabad back then. add to it the fact that my mother used to be one of the only two lady drivers in hyderabad back then (the other lady was an old lady doctor) and u can be sure that the car was noticed wherever it went. we shifted to rawalpindi in 1990 and thereafter to abudhabi and the car was sold to i think the Times and Tunes owner from saddar. it used to have the old type 6 digit number plate back then. imagine my surprize when i thought i saw the same car in this very thread but it turned out to be some other car. i still remember that our car had a clarion cassette player and was such a smooth ride that me and my brother used to sleep soundly in the back on our trips to karachi on the highway. sigh... my first love... still would prefer an accord on a merc or bmw (but only same year or later) i hope i havent committed any heresy.... anyways any one with any info regarding that car will be appreciated..

plus i have also spotted a car which i believe i havent seen on this thread which is currently in a workshop. work is being delayed on it. Romano sahab has an idea what i am talking about. will post the pics in a while when i get off from work.

sami_voodoo... these are Gta replica allys made by several companies now.. some in aluminium and others in magnesium alloy. both in 14 inch and 15 inch with the correct offset etc....I somehow like the mag wheels... low weight.
