seems that my efforts to go to the ace cafe for the VW aircooled meet was wasted on the VWCOP thread so i've decided to share the pics with people who would appreciate what the ace cafe is!

Thanks for sharing.....love the lowered split window. One day Inshallah I 'll get one. Ace Cafe is one happening place for us petrol heads and I wouldnt mind opening someting similar in Karachi. Any investors?

I think you know that there is kind of membership in Ace Cafe london, all members have to pay a certain amount every month and from that money they buy things, organizing shows etc.

i wouldnt mind lending my car to someone who learned to drive on old cars

the ones with no good brakes, or engine condition showing complete chaos as a car
but there are no such ppl around anymore like poor me

that was my case

and if you talk on mercedes from the 80s or 70s, though they werent 100 percent mechanically fit and fine, but still there were some matters of that car which only i or my dad understood

so in short NO you shouldnt , but i can lend my car to some1 whom i believe has the driving capabilities of mine.............

but frankly i did this with my w123 to a friend whom i trusted on his driving skills and i dunno why the CLUTCH and the BRAKES werent functioning the way i was used to

good for you buddy. There's a saying, "A classic car is like another man's wife, you can look and admire but do not touch".........besides we were talking about classics....MB 123 is a normal everyday driving machine....an old car maybe but not a classic in true sense.

being a W123 owner i'd have to agree with you on this one. the 114/115s are pretty much where i draw the line.

progress report on the Merryweather Fire Engine of 1912

while going to the meet there was a small convoy of teh Mini Cooper, Fiat and Z. I was follwing in teh Evo andhave never seen Lahoris rubbernecking and smiling so much.

At the meet there were four minis including my Cooper, and two Minis belonging to Supersonic, A1965s mustang, Dr Zafar's caddy fleedwood coupe, Datsun 260Z, waleed's Fiat 124S coupe... because of shortage of time took these to Phase 5 and took some pics.. at least the weather improved before Iftar. Spitfire was also there but minus his spitfires. The Evo was the chase car.

I could not drive all the cars myself so friends sons and their classfellows and friends mainly drove them... and many took turns. Many young uns think that good cars are limited to the new BMW 6 series and Bugatti Veyrons and teh Evos and teh 350zs. They were surprised at the style of teh cars...someone commented that the Old mini had greater legroom the the BMW MINI. To most teh twin carb induction roar of the down draft webers in thw Fiat was addictive. Many of them were pleasantly surprised to find that greater fun can be had more safely at miniscule speeds.... Not that a small block Mustang at full chat doesnt leave streaks on the road.And the 7.0 litre Cadillac with a sign saying Size does matter. doesnt have to leave streaks on the road.

Will have to check the cars tomorrow to see what bits have been left behind in Defence.. but all in all good fun. Pics and movies up soon.

Forgive me for saying this, but the fire engine looks like a big red toffee Yumm yumm! Can't wait for it to come out of hibernation and stretch its legs. Oh and the quality of work is impeccable I have to say, and I wouldn't have expected any less from you and your crew.

by the time the painter was done for the day today....he looked like a qasaee....this engine will not be able to stretch its legs in the near future as distributor and its drive is missing and I am really pressed for time and funds as the concerned people are only paying for the material and labour diharee for a cosmetic restoration.....and does not cover a body off resto which me and Romano are doing at our own cost.....a gift to the youth of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa

thanks....paint job is very basic and at best an industrial finish...which we wanted to do. Not a concourse 100 point Duesy standard. That wouldnt have been correct.

my friend of mine has been restoring a ford mustang gt for some time now and has nearly finished, any way he come to show me it today and took me for a spin :D, and what a beautiful car it is, looks the ace and a proper head turner. i think it is a 1965 :S. i took some photos and thought i would share them with you all.
