Saw this beauty on motorway near chakri,I took some pictures and also met the owner,was a very nice guy.Sorry if its a repost but its the first classic car that I saw closely and also took a small ride in it.You guys are doing an amazing job restoring these classics so we youngster can see these beauties.

Guys I need some help, looking for the following items within Pakistan and need solid leads and contact details / directions to where to find them please, would reall, really appreciate the help.

1. Bolt on wire wheels idealy 15" X 5 and 120/120.65 PCD
2. 15" chrome wheel rings
3. Ammeter 2" bezel, Ideally Lucas but Smiths will also do, needle must be a hang down type and not the ammeter used on bikes with needle mounted at the bottom

Would really, really appreciate solid leads. I know everything is available on ebay etc but I need everything in Pk please.

There are still two Napiers left in Hyderabad, they are in need of total restoration which at the moment does not appear to be a priority. The family has restored a palace, they did get their 1912 Silver Ghost restored for the Cartier event. But all their remaining cars have been kept carefully behind glass panes. They include a Wolesley and a Fiat among the old cars.
Can you please provide the link where you have seen this? Very interesting.

Queen Soraya on the left, man on the right looks like Enzo Ferrari, so probably not an Aston. DB5s dont have quarter windows. @Alvis?

Alvis in a good mood threw googly. A bonnet can also be opened to show an engine, maybe a V12 or a V8. The car should be a Ferrari, maybe some can comment? And just where did Alvis find this picture? Very nice.
I think the James Bond car also had a sun roof, occasionally used as a third door for emergency exits.

Car: 1957 410 Superamerica Series II (PF Coupe)
Story: Chassis # S/N 0717, Grigio Fumo / Rosso. In July 1957 this Paris Salon car was sold new to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran. Empress Soraya Esfandiary of Persia got the car as a parting gift before the Shah got a new wife.

The car came to America in the 1960s and passed through several different hands. It was the 1978 "Best in Class" winner at Pebble Beach and 1980 "Best of Show" and "Phil Hill Award" winner at the FCA Nationals. The car was recently given a complete restoration and engine rebuild by Gran Turismo Motors in Glendale, California. It last appeared in the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance in August 2002. The car was sold to its current owner Wayne Nelson of Longwood, Florida.

The Shah would normally take delivery of his cars himself, there is a great story about him when he was being shown his Lamborghini Miuara Jota by Ferruchio Lamborghini he turned around to complain that Mr Lamborghini had not demonstrated the most important instrument in the car.
To this querry a disurbed Mr Lamborghini asked him what it was that he had neglected, and the Shah with a twinkle in his eye and a smile said " the overtaking lights ! " (H)

Romano, I have seen about five or six different DB 5's but never ever noticed the lack of a quarter window in these cars.

lancia, A friend keeps on sending these pictures of cars with famous personalities, they are from the net, but I can ask him and let you know. I thought the steering wheel in the picture was a great hint at something Italian.
It is such a lovely picture though, I spent a long time just gazing at it and the thinking of what a great era it was.

Good evening all.
I am looking for help and advice please. I study the vehicle registrations on the whole Indian sub-continent and am compiling a history of them in each country.

Indian Gujarat appears to be in the unique position that it used GT and a serial letter for registrations in the late 1960s and early 70s while Pakistan Gujrat used GT and a serial letter up until probably 2006. I do not know of any other instance of regular issues being duplicated like this between the two post partition countries.

I am certain that Pakistani GTx are known with GTA, B, C, D, E and F although early 2000s personalized numbers are known with GTL 1 and GTM 73.
I am also certain that Indian GTx are known with GTL, M, N, Q, T and V.

It looks to me like they maybe split the serial letters between them for normal issues. Can anyone add any more letters to the Pakistani side of things?

Heartiest congratulations to Karim Chhapra, VCCCP, car enthusiasts of Pakistan, Pakistani people living in Kuwait and last but not the least the people of Pakistan........

Karim's Rolls Royce Silver Ghost won its class (cars from 1900 to 1930) at the Kuwait Concour d'Elegance 2012 ... our second entrant Hupmobile came 3rd behind a Cord.

This is a massive achievement considering that our competition came from cars such as a 1926 Duesenberg Boatail Model A from USA, a 1929 Cord L 29 Cabriolet from Belgium, etc.

4 days event and I couldnt get a chance to walk over to the Muscle Cars section, the sports cars section where they had displayed original Mesarati 250 F, Mesarati Birdcage, Ferraris from the 50's, Le Mans winning Jaguar C Type, Bugattis etc.

Some notable cars displayed were a 1964 Aston Martin DB 4 GT Zagato, Aston Martin DB 5 Convertible, Aston Martin DB 3 Coupe, and many other Astons. Lamborghinis including a beautiful Miura, AC Cobra, Bugatti Type 57 S Atlante, Pebble Beach winner Talbot Lago Teardrop by Figoni ét Filaschi, some amazing pre and post war Alfa's, Coffin nosed Cord, Le Mans winning Mercedes 300 SL Gullswing, another Gullswing, Mclaren, COnvertible Phantom RR (new), Aston Martin Zagato (not yet launched), Bugatti Veyron, long line up of classic RR's, Hispano Suiza, Horsch, Invicta etc. etc etc. The Le Mans winning 2003 Bentley, F1 cars from the 60's, Porsche 356 Speedster, Porsche 959, Bugatti Type 35, ....man oh man!

When they announced that the winner of class A (1900 to 1930) is a car from Pakistan...........it was an unbelievable feeling....got to meet some big collectrs from USA, Europe, CEO of Aston Martin, Chief designer of Ferrari cars Leonardo Fioravanti, CEO of Zagato Mr. Andrea Zagato, Horst Bruning President FIVA, etc. etc.
