I am aware that in the past VCCCP members' efforts to do something in this respect were futile due to the Governments lack of interest.

If Im not mistaken Mr Jim Agha had offered to restore these cars at the expense of the club members but even that proposal was not accepted due to red tape.

I am confident that PWs having a good strength of members along with the VCCCP can start a movement of sorts to push the authorities into doing something.

We might be successful especially after the encouraging response from the Governor regarding vintage cars at the 14th August gathering.

Waiting for input from all Pakwheelers especially VCCCP members.

I haven't checked the link but i am sure you are referring to Fatima Jinnah's cars. Though it is a bit pre-mature to bring this up but after discovering this car about 15 years ago I wrote to the Governor Sindh but no response. We as VCCCP did not put much effort unfortunately but in recent years made some efforts including a letter in dawn and meeting the governor sindh recently on this. Last week I received a call from the Government of Sindh which followed a couple of meetings. Decision has been taken to hand over the cars to VCCCP for restoration. Following my letter in Dawn, a petition was filed on my behalf by an unknown person (to me) and High Court has also pricipally agreed to instruct Governement of Sindh to handover the cars to VCCCP. Maintenance of Mr. Jinnah's Packard and Cadillac will also be done by VCCCP.

This is VERY VERY good news!!!!!!

Whoever restores these cars as a team should be very very proud. I hope the whole story as it unfolds is posted on the VCCCP website and Pakwheels for all to see and maybe even provide positive contribution in the form of ideas and even some finances.

I had seen the Dawn items but not the The News one.

Off topic but where is Mr Jim Agha now?? I saw his Riley Roadster at the VCCCP show at the Forum. He also had a 1947/48 Rolls...is that with him still??

Jim is very much here and yes, he still owns the Riley which is being looked after by his very able nephew Ahmed. he sold his Austin aka Rolls a few years ago.

Every effort will be made to resurrect FJ's '55 Cadillac but sadly the car is now in a rather shocking state of neglect. Mohsin and I went to see it only about 10 days ago and I took a few pics. It was a sad sight. Mohsin should I????
