I TOOK THIS PICTURE IN LAHORE IN 1997. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS EX-AYUB KHAN'S 1958 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD LIMOUSINE......WHAT FIAT IS THAT...NEUROSURGEON?

Wow that '58 Caddy looks nice, although I doubt if its in the same condition now and probably with someone who'd rather sell his mother than the car.

@Mohsin: The red Merc fintail belongs to my ex-brother in law.

@ all, there are a couple of Caddy limos in the army museum in Rwp, saw them a few months ago. Any volunteers from Pindi who can take pics? Army museum is opposite the St Andrews church behind the PC hotel. Both cars have plaques giving some history..
The Mercedes coupe is probably (but not definitely) the silver one seen in Islamabad. Was in a house on Margalla Road, F6/2.

the MB Coupe was painted silver so probably is the same one that you have mentioned.

@Mohsin, the MB seems to have gone into hibernation this year, or perhaps been acquired (horrible word that) by some hoarder hope I dont upset anyone this time!
We have got to realise, that, as the famous economist said, "In the long run, we are all dead."
Make the most of your spare time, and DRIVE those cars!
You cant hear those Webers and DellOrtos once gone.
On another note, did anyone notice the huge (surely I jest?) for the Retro wheels car show in today's Islamabad Dawn? You just might find it if you take out a magnifying glass

Great to be be out of the hospital, thank you all for the good wishes & prayers. The two Caddys at the army museum were in use by Ayub Khan & Yahya Khan respectively. The curator told me that the cars were being auctioned off by the army in Quetta and that he had to pull some strings to aquire them for the museum. He also had a story about the Yahya caddy's accedent on peshawar road just outside pindi.

@ Dear All,

With reference to Ayub Khan's caddy, I would like to share with the members of the forum, a picture that I scanned from the book "Shahabnama" showing Ayub Khan along with the then Indian Prime Minister L. B. Shastri, driving around karachi in an open limo which is most likely a Cadillac Eldorado 1953 - correct me if i'm wrong.

I have been seeing another Eldorado 53 in a house on main Margall, F-8/2 which belonged to some relative of former A. J. Kashmir P. M. And the last time I saw the same caddy, was in a workshop on Murree road, after Bhara-koh check-post.

the blue Caddy you saw on Margalla Road,is a 56, and was a familiar sight to Karachiites in the 80s, parked outside Javed Ibrahim's house on Tipu Sultan road. He recently told me the car has been sold to a friend. Hope it now gets the TLC it deserves....
Incidentally, Eldorado was the name given to top of the line convertibles, not sedans or limos. Mohsin, Alvis?

what a priceless picture. Thank you. This Cadillac is a 1955 Eldorado Bearitz Convertible with Sabre Wheels, it was identical to another one (in same color)in Miss Fatima Jinnah's ownership. Both these cars are in known locations. Fatima Jinnah's Eldo is on main Tipu Sultan Road under wraps waiting to be restored and Ayub Khan's Eldo (above pic) is in a factory in S.I.T.E. area Karachi.I'll post Fatima Jinnah's Eldo pics tonight. I'll post Ayub Khan's Cadillac pics as well in a few days.

Cadillacs in the 50's: Eldorado's were sort of deluxe, limited no. convertibles, normal ones were 'series 62 convertibles; Coupe de Ville (obv 2 door hardtop), Sedan de Ville (4 door pillarless)and Fleetwood (saloons & limousines).

Mohsin.... you are sorely tempting me with the TR4....I work at SKMH also so your offer is even more tempting.

I will match your highest bid as long as this takes a few weeks. I am in deep sh...T with the house and my latest two acquisitions. I estimate it will take me two to three years to do the TR4 up properly...collection of correct parts being the most difficult but not impossible. I have a friend with an esate just outside the Lakenheath airbase in the East of England...

The Fiat is a 1500s cabrilolet early 60s. I hope it still has the original TC engine which incidentally was related to the OSCA engines.. OSCA was I believe set up by the Maserati brothers after they sold Maserati.
