I purchased my Vitz 2003 1.0 First Generation FL package 1 year ago. I wanted to know real time fuel consumption of my ride.
I decided to do it on Sunday. On Sunday morning, I went to PSO pump. My vitz fuel tank capacity is 45 liters. I filled up fuel tank full. I monitored and made sure that fuel tank is completely full.
I noted odo meter milage which is 191800. I reset trip odo meter to 0 to record fuel consumption test kilometres.
I travelled 40.2 kms (both sides) and came back to same PSO pump on return.
I filled fuel tank to same level again to record fuel consumed by car. My Vitz consumed 1.98 liters for 40.2 kilometers.
Here is milage calculation formula:
40.2/1.98 = 20kms/liter
Vitz 2003 1.0 achieved 20kms/liter on highway without AC which is very impressive. This will definitely achieve 18kms/l with AC.
I took this is an opportunity to test city fuel consumption as well. I refilled consumed 1.98 liters. My fuel tank is full once again.
I traveled 33kms in Multan city. The Vitz consumed 1.91 liters this time.
33/1.91 = 17kms/liter
17kms/l average is achieved in city drive without AC. The car will surely achieve 15kms/l with AC.
I am very happy to know my car fuel consumption. Engine is sound because its achieving company claimed fuel consumption.
Driving conditions: The drive was on highway. The drive was without AC. Speed was under 80km/h. Drived on gear D throughout. Only driver was in car. Tyres air pressure was accurate.
