VITZ 2008 Acceleration Problem

My 2nd Gen Vitz (2008) doesn't seem to be accelerating.... when I press the accelerator, revs build up but the power doesn't go to the wheels, I think it might be a transmission slippage issue. Also the car has almost no power when climbing sloped roads. I changed the transmission oil but it didn't fix the issue. What other things can I check which can solve this problem or the only solution is a replacement of the CVT gearbox? If so, how much will that cost me?

Car is 55000km driven, idk what the original milage might be but the engine is in pristine condition.

What engine Oil you are using currently and is it CAT device available in your car or is it already removed?

Yes CAT converter is still in the car and not exactly sure about the oil because i had someone supervise the oil change, but car had a very recent oil change.... I doubt it is engine related, engine seems powerful, car accelerates slowly as it should on light pedal, but when you put your foot down, car revs up but it simply doesn't accelerate as it should.. Hard to explain but it would be faster to go from 0 to 100 on a light pedal than to put your foot down.

Sounds like electronic issue.. test the spark-plug wires as they the first to go after 5-7 years of use, ask the dealership to test obd2 parameters thoroughly.

Clutch plate in a CVT?? Is it something that can be replaced separately or will require the whole transmission change? I thought CVT had no clutch plate.....

Since their are no gears you will always feel slippage in driving a cvt.

Try to get the cat convertor inspected and replaced if required.

Don't just get it removed your cars sound would be very bad.

One more thing don't expect too much from the second generation 1000cc cvt vitz it is sluggish. The third generation drives better.

It might be sluggish, but atleast it should be able to accelerate on slopes. Right now it struggles to maintain speed while climbing overhead bridges, let alone accelerate...
I have driven a friends vitz to check the acceleration and the difference is like day and night....

its not likely that cvt has gone bad .. it would have give bad smell other hints ... try these two areas first

• try performing hard reset process maybe the problem is in codes or software .. at times resetting does the job
• another likely culprit is throttle position sensor it might be giving wrong indication of throttle specially when u suddenly press .. cleaning it might do the job
• check battery leads if they r not loose .. low current or sparking messes up cvt

Problem Solved Alhamdulillah!
Turns out the car had a very clogged CAT converter. I found a replacement from Bilal gunj and acceleration is great now.
