Vitz 4WD Performance Opinion

Guys i recently purchased vitz 07 which was 4wd but converted to 2wd,. Not only the shaft was removed but axles etc. were also removed and it was made similar to 2wd.

I am looking to replace rear suspension and put back real 4wd suspension at rear e.g. install axle etc. but before doing it, i want to get reviews from all 4wd vitz users about?

1. Does 4wd have significant pleasure of drive within city or motorway etc. or it only helps in reaching heights
2. I have heard that 4wd eats more feul, how much is the fuel average difference, minor or huge
3. Like jeeps, can we have a gear that can be used to shift 2 - 4 wd
4. Any other issues etc.

in a front wheel drive car, the power losses are about 12-15%..... in rear wheel drive car, the power losses are about 15 to 25%..... in an all-wheel drive car the power losses are about 35 to 40%... so that is what accounts for the fuel economy part.... no significant pleasure in an all-wheel drive car.... just that it is more grippier and you'll get a better launch every time you put your foot down.... but that also requires a powerful engine...i don't think you can switch between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive.....its an all time 4wd so basically an all wheel drive.... as far as i know....

4wd in vitz? arent you pushing too much hassle on 1.0 or 1.3 litre massoom sa engine?

my ride is 1.3 4wd, but from the rear end, its altered to 2wd...

1.3 engine will not give enough power to all the wheels at one time! front wheel drive is good for city and hill driving..in foreign countries Vitz/Yaris 4wd was introduced because of heavy snowfalls the front wheel drive wont work there so the gave an extre feature of 4wd and you can switch between 4wd and 2wd in vitz..even in my Vitz 2011 Jewela i have option of 4wd but the drive shaft and rear axel are missing..anyway i dont recommend 4wd for 1000cc or 1300cc...a good city driving 4wd should start from min 1500cc..as you know vitz lacks in power..these cars are TOTALLY FAIL in Case of POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO!..my brand new vitz lacks while acceleration..and its slow as hell!! and i have replaced to factory 14 inch wheels and done some weight reduction still didn't get the desired acceleration.believe me or not old 2007 vitz has way better engine pick than 2011 i have both..

You can easily push you engine to 100hp with cheap mods

A good exhaust header, high lift cam can help you

I am more into Honda and Suzuki engine so my estimate might be a bit wrong but a good header can cost 2-5k (depends upon condition) no idea about cam
