Vitz Car side mirror stolen

Hi everyone, I need some information and suggestion.
My new Vitz car side mirror was stolen from tariq road, thankfully my car is insured, so i am getting replacement, but showroom mechanic asked me he need my car for full day, he said he will color the mirror, and he asked me for 1000 rupees for report in police.

My questions are:

1. If side mirror is original why he need to paint it?
2. Why he is asking me to leave my car for full day? will it take that much time to fix. (i.e i am afraid he may change parts.)
3. Really police takes 1000 bribe for complaint registration?
4. What is permanent solution for this issue? should i use metal mirror mount instead of plastic mount as they are difficult to break? any side effect of using metal mount?

Your mechanic seems doubtful. If I were you, I would not leave my car with him. I had my Nissan Bluebird's side mirrors replaced in an hour.

1) Could be that the side mirrors they have available are of different color so they need to paint them.
2) It takes hardly an hour to change both of them

Sad. It will need re coloring yes but 1 hr job. U dont have to report to police for it bhai insurance walon ki bakwaas. But kachi report is free.

Aa far as metal mount is concerned yes... Keep the originals out and mount metal till ur selling ur car. Ive seen many vitz cars with metal mounts. VitZ is a hotcake for its side mirrors.

I don't get it. Your mechanic wants to report the theft of your side mirror to the police? Why don't you file that report yourself?

Go to main Tariq Road opposite Grave Yard Mosque. Over there ask mirror repair persons to tie your both side glasses with Motorcycle Clutch wire. One side of the clutch wire will be attached with mirror and other side will be attached with inside door Nut. Thief will only break one glass but cannot take it away. The other glass will be totally safe. I have done this procedure and not quiet satisfy. There is no now mirror/glasses of Vitz available in Pakistan. Only stolen mirrors are sold.
