Vitz not picking up acceleration with AC On

Hello Salam to everyone.

Recently i am having problems in my Vitz [2010 model], 75000km] accelerating while AC is ON.

The car doesn't pick up the same kind of power when the AC is not on.

I took the car to Toyota Drive In, they told me its engine is weak and piston are almost finished. They first told me it will take 1.5 lakh but later they said it can be done in 30-40k. i don't really trust them.

What can be the issue? can the Engine be weak at 75000km?

Does it accelerate normally without AC? I had the same issue at around 80k but my cars catalytic converter was clogged.

Yes it accelerate normally when AC is off.

I hate to tell you but when I bought the 09 at 72k ODO in 2015, I did not notice the reading on the auction sheet which was 83k at the time of Import in 2012 :p. So my guess is my car's ODo was reversed at least 45k km and now I'm starting to face the weaker engine problems. Are you sure yours is only driven 75k till today?

There could be a vague connection but before any engine work, I strongly suggest you tick all the boxes of maintenance and troubleshooting.
A newer engine in Torkham (KPK) for this model will cost around 40k with all wiring intact.
And also, your car total odometer figures might have been tampered with when you bought it. It should be above 1,00,000 safely assuming. A Toyota car’s engine specially Vitz usually doesn’t give up so early however badly abused cars? You never know.

A friend had a 2010 model his AC was not performing and the engine was weak. He initially wanted to replace the AC compressor. The genuine one was for 23-24K and the work around one costed 13-14K. The AC guy in addition to the actual mechanic said that the engine was weak and replacing the compressor won’t do any good in that state of the overall engine health. So he started to look for an engine. He asked in Peshawar but said it was expensive then went to Torkham. Later he updated me was the info that I shared above. As per him the complete engine in pristine condition was for 40K less transmission (before or after bargaining I don’t know). But he was contemplating on swapping with the 1.3L for lesser engine noise, better fuel economy and a powerful drive and AC. I don’t have more information and will check up with him. But, sincerely, I think you need to look into the common issues and do the troubleshooting before the last resort.

Hello. Sell it ASAP. My vitz 2011 did the same issue at 63000 ODO (13,500 km driven in Japan). Vitz is a poorly engineered and overhyped car in my opinion. Passo is much better. So for you, there is no solution other than piston ring replacement from G-8 car matket in Isb, if you live in ISB. Only that is the solution. The whole assembly will need to be opened up and also the cat converter will have to be thoroughly cleaned (never remove it). Best of luck.

Hey hey hey hold it, right there. Don’t just discourage the OP, let us work for the solution collectively. It may be just a case of clogged Cat Conv.
Selling the car just like that won’t do any good. And NO, the Vitz and Passo are equally engineered cars of the same category.

To declare an engine to be weak some logical checks r performed

• compression test (not all workshops have compression test guage)
• Oil reduction like a litre after every 1000km
• blue or whitish smoke from exhuast
• A noisy engine than usual

can u confirm if any such things u got checked and found in ur engine .. if u r dead certain that ur engine is weak then a swap is recommended instead of an overhaul .. I will guide you on what checks to perform (while buying a kabli engine) but only when u confirm engine is weak and u agree on swap

I am on mission of exploring options for my car. I am a different person than the OP. My car's engine has started to loose alot of performance. I am feather footed person so i have managed to drive 30k km since the engine has lost power and it consumes oil only when i accelerate hard (there is no oil reduction in normal drive). My car's average is still pretty good, in last refill it gave me 13.5 km/l with 80% times AC on. It gave me 15.5 km/l in 50% city and 50% highway drive (I had to drive quite aggressively due to some reason).
A very good person recommended by capsat is Mr. Abbass. I have plans to get my engine overhauled from him. Swapping engine is sort of gamble and I intend to keep the car for at least 2-2.5 years so I want a reliable solution. And i am sort of person who has to travel to different cities on a half hour notice so again I need a reliable solution.

• Passo and vitz both carry same engine i.e 1KR

• Selling a car with weak engine would be a poor decision, as it will sell for less price than a car with good engine condition (swapped or overhauled and all expenditures included) .. today the swapping of engine is much preferred over overhauling because of availability of newer model engines and because of sub-standard overhauling parts in market

Oil consumption in cars usually occurs when rings go weak .. rings act as a seal for the piston but when they wear this sealing effect reduces and oil from chamber (lower portion) mixes up in the cylinder area (with air and fuel) and burns causing smoke

light foot or heavy foot .. with weak rings oil will burn

My brother in law has a vitz 2003 model with more than 250k km on odometer and still original engine is good .. a toyota engine (1000cc category) can last up to 400-500 kkm if kept with care and timely maintenance

An overhauled engine do good only if machining work is done properly, mechanic is good and uses all precautions as per manual and finally the parts r of good quality .. i would say overhauling is an equal gamble

OP:
Get a compression test done. Leak-down as well if possible.
Furnish the numbers - motors don't die out this soon out of lost power caps. A weak engine will have consistently lower compression at all 3 cyls.

If you have good compression start looking at other areas - We don't call out an engine unless it has thrown a rod at the odo.
