Vitz Spider worth buying?

Salam, I’m looking forward to get a hatchback around 3 million, so I considered vitz spider 2014/15/16, the 1000cc one. But someone told me that 1000cc F package of vitz isn’t worth buying since it has engine noise and vibration issues which increases with time to a point where you have to completely change the engine. Moreover i came to know that the engine of this car won’t go beyond 150k kms and it’ll need a replacement. So kindly if anyone has some ownership experience of vitz, do guide me whether i shall consider buying the 1000cc one or not.

Currently my options are:

Vitz 1300cc 2014/15 but the thing is that these are very rare to find. Also im concerned whether 1300cc vitz will have any resale value or no since it is too rare.

Mira 2018/19 L package: Good option but im worried that the 660cc engine would blow away if it’s not handled with care, moreover i’m also carrying 4-5 people with me sometimes in my car

Aqua 2012/13/14: Good vehicle but the hassle of changing batteries and abs unit is making me avoid this one since 2012/13 models are very old.

For 3 million look for a Pakistani Honda City you should be able to get a 2015+ model easily.

This is all false. Well kept ones last very long. I have seen 300k kms driven ones.

Which city are you in?

As for aqua, 2012 and 2014 are no different, you have to spend once on these things every 3 ish years.
But only consider a hybrid of you are gonna do 120 km or more a day

I’m from Karachi and can you please confirm that you’re talking about the 1000cc vitz, since ive heard about this issue from many people and even owners of this vehicle too! Also, what’s with this 120km daily logic with hybrids? It will be really helpful if you could elaborate this further.

Yes 1000cc.
The logic is that every 2 to 3 years the battery and abs go kaput. Thats a 400k expense, now if a car is driven more than a 100km per day, savings in fuel will be over 400k by then, hence economically, it will balsnce out. Otherwise, its cheaper to run a vitz instead

I have a Vitz 2012 with 1KR-FE 996cc few things I want to mention

1. Vibration problem is real - Idle vibration not very excessive but you can feel if coming from 4 cylinder car.
2. Fuel Avg is not so good in short it gives Max 12 and 10 with AC
3. Ground clearance is an issue too until you have bigger tyres which will effect fuel avg as well
4. Parts availability, genuine maintenance parts available and expensive, body parts are not available new and if need very pricy and lot of hassle.
5. You have to at least mix 70/30 octane to avoid engine knocking

Now about good things

1. Drive, handling and comfort is exceptional I too had Cultus 2008 before this
2. AC is good
3. Car is bit spascious compared to other hatchback
4. Looks are sporty compare to even Passo, Mira etc
5. Cabin noise is minimal

This might help you to decide but if i suggest only in Vitz then I'd say go for any 2011-2016 model 1.3L if you find in good condition. It better to see auction sheet grade and inspection is must have.

Car is very good.

Engine will last hundreds of thousands of kms. 200k-300k is nothing, only use 0w20 engine oil or max 5w30.

Vibration is there inherently because of 3 cylinder engine. Not much noticeable if well kept.

Only issue:

ALL imported cars have issue with spare parts and body panels. If you ever need them like side mirrors, lights, bumpers, you will be stuck and have to spend days and days in scrapyards / kabaari bazaars to find used parts.

If you want a hatchback go for new shape Swift CVT.

Else if you want to experience Vitz, it’s a top notch car and spider shape is specially very good. Make sure you buy a well inspected car above 4 grade auction sheet.

Spider shape fixes the issue in engine where it kept burning engine oil but spider shape or above does not have this issue.

Remember only use 0w20 engine oil. Or max 5w30.

For vibration issue I saw a guy on YouTube who reprogram the ECU by updating some files through laptop and OBD and vibration seems gone. Not sure that is any kind of solution for this.

There is no solution to this.

3 cylinder engine will have this.

Again I agree. The only fix which minimise this is to use only high octane and clean throttle every 2-3 weeks along with cleaning air filter.

Do not use hi octane in normal engines. Never recommended.

Just use regular fuel and if vibrations increase clean the throttle body.
