VW Beetle Brake Rod Adjustment[/highlight]
@kpsheikhyou should get a print out of the engine list above, or atleast save it on your computer (it's a jpeg file)
I have been following this thread off and on and I've got to say you guys love your beetles! I almost got one in karachi as a first car during my a-levels but my father decided to trust the japanese and i ended up with a charade instead... he owned one for a short period a very long time ago... anyway i just wanted to chip in my two cents... i own two VWs right now... not a beetle unfortunately but a VW Golf '03 and an '08 jetta city...
This picture is by no means an effort on my part to show myself speeding but I find it hilarious that in '03 golf you can actually drive with all the needles in the car pointing upwards (the fuel gauge was a little off at this point)...
and this is where VW pulled off an old toyota trick... you know how toyota messes around with the brake lights every two years and sells the same shape with modified brake lights for a decade? Well VW had excess capacity of the previous generation Jetta and Golf models so they messed around with the brake lights and the headlights, changed the name from Jetta to the Jetta City and re-released the car in the market... I would complain but it was a freaking bargain... got this model for 15K only... brand new!
@ beglar_begi!
LOL...on what you said about the Toyota, very rightly said.
must say you have got 2 good cars. but i would say i like Golf over Jetta.
by the way, does canada have some surviving MK2s?
@TM
Well to be honest I went to the dealership with a friend to make fun of the Jetta City when we found out what VW had done... but when the sales guy told us the price I went back the next weekend (without the friend to mock me of course)...
yeah there are quite a few MK2's still available here... they often show up for sale on craigs list... I have to say majority have been messed with in bad taste... you see them needlessly lowered being driven by these pasty white kids acting black laid back pumping hip hop through their speakers... very embarrassing to watch...
your decision for going for this Jetta was right. had it been me would have bought that too. we surely trust VW and Jetta. mugar yeah Jetta zara haat ka hai i think the front lights are the main reason... no more that solid look of the Jetta that we are used to.
ok got the idea that what is going on with Mk2βs in Canada

@Sameer
Sold my GTI today Lets see what I end up with next. Man that car gave me the most fun in my driving years..
@sumairwhat do you expect? that puppy had 200hp and was the 2nd greatest VW ever made,... so what's next?
Very true.. Aham, not too sure to be honest. Got that civic to drive about now. Lets see what I get next. I want something diesel to keep but will sort all that out around aug/sept times inshallah...
don't underestimate the VW 1.9 TDi
@ beglar_begi nice cars.
Is the jetta city for the canadian market only? what engine choices were offered? The price seems to be a great bargain. Thanks for sharing
Its just a standard 2.0L engine... 115 HP but very torquey and very fuel efficient... for a sedan to give me between 8 and 9L/100 km is pretty ood... hell my golf gives me 10L/100 Klicks. It does come with different garnishings that bumps the price up a bit but if you buy one fully loaded its still under 20K... mine has everything including auto tranny with triptronic all that is missing is the sunroof and the leather...
And yeah I think the jetta city was a Canadian phenomenon... they basically gathered all the North American Jetta and Golfs of the previous generation and launched them as the City lineup... we call the Canadian auto market as the sucker market...
lol. very true. Had two 1.9TDI's so far but I heard the latest 2.0 TDI (GT TDI to be precise) is better then 1.9. Never driven one or owned one. Lets see what happens but TDI are great cars no matter what the engine size is.
"beetle crisis" will be on in about an hour on Discovery.
VW powered trike...
Notice the number plate, must be a Beetle in its previous life.
