Been diggin into my daily driver 68 bug the past few days....was off from work so thought I should utilise some time.
Doing a lot of small things, long over due things, things put off due to one excuse or the other....
Primed a couple of areas on the floor which had had patchwork done few months (a year perhaps??) ago. KP would remember me driving round with the front carpet off for this reason....
Well....I got cariied away and pulled all the seats and carpet out. Gave them a good scrub. Ah! Looking good..... Now all has to go back in tomorrow.
I also got the dash grilles out. One had an ugly hole punched in by the last owner for a flip/toggle switch which operated the indicators. The switch was thrown out as soon as we got a nice NOS indicator switch assembly.
The other grille came with an aftermarket Ammeter, again thanks to the last owner. Again this was not connected so useless. Felt good to chuck it out. Found original factory paint under the grilles!! Lotus white!
Now I have to decide what to do for the grilles.....I have a pair which was chromed earlier....should this go in??? Bling bling!! Or a new painted pair??? Hmmm??
Have lots to do.....fit in a new old glovebox liner, the hard to find original hand brake boot, A new antenna as the old one broke, maybe the aftermarket tacho should at last go in too???
Did not manage many pics as my hands were all dirty.....
Folks say get the car painted. Mom says the color is faded to nothing. Father wants a color change!! Dont they know its due for a body off resto spanning at least a couple of months??
Well lets see when 'her' turn comes!! The owner is a lazy bum who cannot handle the other two bugs.......
