the code is written on the top of the box, i don't think you'll be able to read it when it is intalled on the car. i ran the codes ofthe boxes shakeel had but they are short ratio (An series) and intermediate (AO Series) boxes. the AO is from a karman and is worth buying since this gearbox allows VWs to run smoothly on higways at low revs.

however the first 2 gears are more or less the same in ALL gearboxes and long ratio boxes will kill all performance on heavier VW's (like my 1303 which is running an intermediate box).

i preffer the intermediate box since it allows for highway use as well as decent performance as well as keeping the revs down (less heat).

i think you've also got an intermediate and your car WAS an economy model which means that it has a very light chassis and with the new setup it shoudl be VERY quick (just like romanos car).

^^yeah the 3rd and 4th gear are longer comparatively.

btw what max speed are you able to touch in your top gear?

yes thats a gas kit..BUT it is not installed.
i used to run my previous engine on CNG so the kit and the cylinder are still in place..will remove it inshAllah.

i've only done 120km/h as that was the limit on the motorway from chakri to ISB (5 other VW's following). however my car shouldn't be a guage as i have a 30 carb rather than a 34 and the 1303 is the heaviest of all beetles.

i think that as long as she can keep up with modern traffic it's all good (Y)

@Storm: Peshawar does indeed have some nice VWs and dedicated owners, as does the NWFP in general but I suppose because of the climate/security situation, we don't get to know much about them. Take for example Moqeems recent purchase of a 1958 Beetle from Peshawar at his typical bargain-basement price. Also a good friend of mine told me of a 1-owner, all original (including paint and engine stickers) 66-67 1300 Beetle somewhere in D.I. Khan, for sale...

@Aishaikh: so you want a 60s Microbus, eh? Even if I knew of 1, I wouldn't tell Just kidding. I would also love to get a hold of one, but they're damn hard things to find up here. Look back somewhere on this thread, you'll find Romano took pics of what looked like a 1965-67 11/13 window microbus in blue & white, parked somewhere in ISB.

But I would suggest trying Karachi. Believe me, I've seen split buses still being used on school duty and miscellaneous other commercial applications. Still in reasonably supply down there.

1) it's a peshawar based site, it HAS to be bling bling:P
2) Buksh is usually out of country so it's hard for him to concentrate on projects for too long
3) there are a few MK1 & MKII's out there, generally the MKIII & MKIV are the popular ones amongst PW members. let me know what you want to kow about the earllier ones as i have a little experience with them from when i helped out at NS Racing in the UK.

hello all!!

just to share that i got my engine ready couple of weeks ago and in process of completing engine running... its a 1600cc dual port strong enough to raise my bugs nose:-P...along with complete engine overhaul i got a long ratio gearbox, new suspension, brakes overhaul with new parts and a good steering box.. now the car is mechanically fit.

also replaced old 16 205 55 tyres with 15 195 65...which makes the ride smoother.

Can anyone spot a couple of technical flaws in the setup above???? (Not trying to nitpick or degrade the effort of Miyaan1987 but want to point somethings out......Simple fixes but important nonetheless)
