i heard once that best place for a fuel filter is to have it in the inside of the car, i'm guessing somewhere like inder hte rear seat,... sounds odd though. i just used jubilee clips in my car. that coil is pretty good, but i'd prefer everyone uses an original unit. i had no choice as mine died and i couldn't find a good replacement (now i have).

as for the 200 pages,.. it's people like you who brought this thread so far (Y)

Well, Variant or Fastback, it is positively criminal in my books to do that kind of thing to a type 3, especially in Pakistan. What a waste!

sorry for the %^$ delay but that contact of the French doctor is such a late lateef when it comes to SMS replies. Sent him 3 reminders but so far total radio silence. I have today sent the French doctor an email, lets see what transpires. However keep the 31st in mind, as that is the original departure date

Salam,

A little help needed here. I got this tachometer and i wanted to install it in my bug. There are four wires. Black, Yellow, White and Red. According to da instructions manual, the black wire is for ground, the yellow is for the light. Im clueless about connecting da other two wires wid da coil. Help would be appreciated. Pictures attached.

That’s a neat tachometer! Where did you get your hands on this??? Its by Smiths, so Brit most prolly.

When you have the wiring diagram with you (a real blessing) why do you need directions??? How does it not list where to connect the remaining two wires?? Please scan the diagram and post a high resolution copy here, it would be easy to follow for sure. I cant make much out in the photograph.

I don’t know how Storm has deciphered the color codes for the wires but I must warn you that you have to be very sure before you wire up this instrument (or any electric device in an auto for that matter) and energize it. You might end up doing permanent damage to the tacho.

The problem is color codes are not standard, the Brits may consider a particular color to designate live for example while maybe the Japs consider it something else. So tread carefully!

I have a tacho myself which also has four wires but they are black, green, red and white. I won’t tell you how the recommended wiring diagram is for my meter because I don’t want you to blindly follow it. I would however say that Storm’s key may be correct.

Would wait till you post a good copy of the instruction sheet.

^^ sir if u look closer at my engine bay, the fuel pipe isnt pressed beneath the carb but it is tied to the dog house fan shroud using a copper wire..so it wont come loose

I looked back at your post. I suppose the location of the fuel filter is incorrect?

I got this tachometer from my uncle. he used it in an old Nissan. i checked the wiring diagram, what Storm said is correct.
