the green oneyou bought in july? or have you bought another 74 as well? i've been eagerly awaiting more updates on that green one since you got it because (as i said back then) another bug was in the right hands. are brake rebuild kits available in KHI? i'd also like to get my hands on a kit for the rears of my 1303. what's next?

what i love about these cars is that a simple oil change, a little tinkering and maybe a fresh battery is all they need to get moving again,... i'd like to see any local car do that after 25 years. keep the updates coming.(H)

sadly PK is not the only country where people trash VW's. This is just a few examples of how VW's have been "upgraded":

yes, some are better than otheres but all use VW donor cars.

i was doing so research online and found

1. the porsche 924 transaxle featured Super Beetle components including the torsion bar and trailing link rear suspension (also part of pre '85 944s), drive-shaft joints and coil spring front struts.

2. The 1600 1302 'GT' engine comprised modified heads and ports, with higher compression and dual carbs, upping the power output to 65hp and a top speed of 145km/hour. 210 sold. Inspired by the very successful Porsche-Austria rally cars

3. VolksWorld Magazine recommend a front tire size for a 1302 & 1303 of 185/55R15 and a rear size of 195/60R15 on 5.5 wheels to give a combination of improved cornering and good handling (strictly for those who are serious about racing and getting their chassis' closer to the ground)

How should we evaluate the engine's condition of a VW? i mean that how we know that engine is in good condition, just ok or in a weak condition

@Sharjemad - sorry buddy no contact no for the seller of the 66 in F-10...just go to the Oxford shop and you'll find the owner.

@Romano - I'd LOVE to save the 65 body...but what the hell can I, or anyone else for that matter do with it? Do you have any reasonable/rational suggestions?! I'm all ears. The only problem is the damn mechanic, in his greed, sold of the whole chassis and now obviously this shell is useless to his customer, who's building God knows what out of it. Do let me know. At the moment, it looks fit for an abandoned cat or dog shelter...how to get 'it' back on the road? Do let me know.

Guyz an interesting fact... Before getting my Beetle, I once saw this Beetle and had a talk with its owner... And I wished I was lucky enough to own a Beetle like his... Guess what I was blessed with a better one The only thing I regret is that I should have wished for a 1960's Mustang along with it

originally VW beetles (the later models) came with approx 165/80R15 tyres which would make them 645mm, the size you mentioned give an overall tyre diameter of 532mm,... 17.52% too small.

So the answer is "NO" if you want stock height,... also i think 13 inch rims are too small to even clear the brake drums.

@ Storm Yes its the same green one. All it required was a bit of tinkering as u said. Nothing was required to be changed.

Smaller tyres equals smaller diameter, leading to lower top speed, higher engine revs, worse fuel economy, and loads more noise, not to mention lower ground clearance and chances of damaging engine sump/tailpipes over speed breakers!

gents.

saw a PRISTINE 60's beetle parked infront of a house on kh-e-hafiz. could not ascertain the exact model year because i was driving, but my god she was spectacular. half moon caps, white wall tyres, the WORKS. it was restored to a 100 percent original by the looks of it. i might even go as far as to say that it was one the best, if not THE best beetle i have seen in pakistan.

does anyone know of this car?

hey all,

i recently got quite a lot of work done on my beetle, from engine tune-up to suspension replacement....

torsion bar bushes, damper, rear suspension etc all were replaced wherever required. However, the ride is still rock hard and shakes the entire car on any bump, causing loud noises from the doors / windows etc.

the ride is so hard that even the cat-eyes on the road hit directly on the bum and almost send the bug in the air!

any help?

will check and let you know.....but you really think its related to wheels? seems too hard to be related to wheels only....

i have 205s that i'm replacing with 185s.....pressure right now is 20 front, 27 rear
