Dear all:

Just dug up these pics, which were taken by Storm back in 2007, of what appears to be a 65-67 Karmann Convertible Bug, apparently an embassy car (not sure if diplomatic plates, can't make that out) but certainly owned by a foreigner - at that time.

Where, oh where on earth is this car now? I would absolutely love to get my hands on this machine. If she ain't driving it, why the hell keep it? Probably the only time it's ever been spotted.

On the topic of convertibles, there is also, again apparently a 65 vert owned by someone else in ISB (local car) - only 1 picture exists of this car and that was taken at the DAWN lifestyle exhibition a few years back. God knows where that is, again.

Any info highly appreciated.

A while back there used to be a LHD 1302S sunroof (top of the line) 70-71 in a beige colour i recall, standing for ages in the parking area of the PHA flats in G-8, near PIMS and the rescue 15 cop shop.

Apparently the owner had collected tons of imported parts for the car but for some reason wanted to get rid of it.

Is the car still there?

Could be an interesting project...any clues?!

the days of finding a running beetle in that much money are gone. even that car will go for at least 60k (minimum - if the seller is desperate for cash)

Please note that if you ever decide on changing the oil in your (manual) beetle gearbox you must you ONLY EP 80W-90 Hypoid Light or an equivalent oil. Failure to do so will lead to nearly instant damage to your gearbox.

I think i might make a list of FAQs for beetles and create a new thread which we'll try and keep at one page (i'll monitor it). this way we can all add bits of info to it and we can constantly update it. people will be able to ask questions and once they are answered we can update the thread and delete the remaining pages.

This thread has become too cluttered to find any useful info,.. which is fine since we are here to share pics & experiences etc. The other thread could be used as a technical manaul (with info like EP 80W-90 Hypoid Light or equvalent oil should be used in manual beetle gearboxes etc.).

What do you all say? anyone willing to help out with some facts & specs? should we make a new VWCOP technical thread or just keep posting info here?
