Aleem,
I feel like crying here. Yes I mean it!
I was offered the same car for the same amount which was far far less than its scrap by-the-kg value. I also had the cash for it but I wanted someone to save this car and restore it to its former glory while I was looking at it as a parts car.....
Had I known courtesy of a crystal ball or such, I would definitely have purchased it and parted it out myself.....I cant believe Im saying this but remember....had I known its fate.....
And lets count what this car could have yielded for my 59 project......
Correct front end clip
Correct fuel tank
Correct doors
Correct seats
Correct clear needle speedometer
Ragtop mechanism bits and bobs (this was bloody complete!)
Four fenders
Front and rear bonnets
Headlight....or at least parts for them.
Interior bits and bobs
Pedal assembly
Misc donor panels
Solid five lug rims
Steering column complete (technically incorrect but closest vintage)
Correct split case tranny
Gear lever assembly
Handbrake assembly
These were just some of the things that come to my mind......ALL these parts for Rs 7000 AND having scrap metal to sell after I was done......
Now if I sit down, open my records and receipts to calculate what I paid, how much time I spent to locate the above parts, getting even duplicates and triplicates to chose the best bits from......Id come to a figure maybe ten times the above amount, if not more.... :o
Now who wanted to kill Aleem????
Lets see who beats me to it!!! :P
