Notice the inside of the workshop with the half cut cars.... He took me to his so called office as I had asked him if he had any vw parts.....inside his workshop he had lying around stacks of german parts from felt channels to mudflaps, fender beadings, carbs, shocks, door pannels, Hella head and tail lights, vent window rubbers, door handles etc, etc, etc.....

great pics and i'm sure you were very excited to see some VW's there. though you two couldn't understand each other i'm sure the love for the brand helped translate a few things.

i know that whenever i see a VW abroad i get all excited too. are you bringing back any goodies for your car?

Yes I was really excited. I not only saw a workshop but also located a parts shop. I really wish we had just one such shop not in Khi but in the whole of Pakistan how great it would be.

The shop had everything inventorized in a computer any part that I would ask for he would look up the part number in the computer and then go to the specified rack .....

For most parts they had both the german and brazilian/mexican category.

I only bought a set of german ball joints for my 1969 Beetle.

They had disc brake setup and any part you name it they had it.

the only way you could fit a dual port intake to your car is to fit the heads of an AR (1300DP) engine to your block. it should be possible and this would lead to dramatic performance improvements.

fitting a dual carb setup (even dual 40s) would be overkill for a 1200. you're better off going for a 1600 dual port swap first.

you'd need to fit dual port 1300 heads (from an AR block) to make these fit.

if you want to go dual carb, you shoudl first consider going 1600DP first. also you'd have to seriously beef up your chassis to ensure it could handle all the power upgrades (something i'm still working on with my 1303)

true....though i shouldn't be saying this, but whenever i need an engine overhaul, i would prefer swapping a bigger engine.

no reason not to do so. we've all done it. KP swapped to a 2.1 (then a 1.8), romano swapped his car to a 1.6 block and i converteed my 1300Dp to a 1600DP. it's best to swap to a larger block because it doesn't have to work so hard. Though i have to admit that in a stock post 68 beetle (and also the earlier ones with a little work) the ideal swap is still a 1500 "H" engine as it is easy to come by, produces good power and is very tough.
