The so called usual lathe machine guys in radio pakistan are ok if they listen and dumb idiots if they think they are ustaads. They have never seen or heard about helicoil - let alone use it, I get my helicoil insert, tap and handle then do it myself. And if you are trying to restore a car just trusting the mechanics around you are never ever going to have a factory reliable piece. Nothing pays off doing it yourself, save tens of thousands of rupees and have a car that starts and works everyday.
You can buy PTFE in 12 inches long and 1.5 thick rods at Sindh madresah market which pays off very good, it can be used for many many things, like fabbing the shifter rod bushings of many FWD cars.. a good micro machinist can make a bush for you, there are a few in the hydraulic section of the lathe market of karachi that can fab a bush as you want. But they charge their quality work.
I always have supplies of specialty joint compounds, sealers, thread locks and bearing locks lying around - They were meant to be used by every mechanic and service shop. (try hylomar on head gaskets next time) - and see how it withstands torture
The heat riser I was talking about is the thin exhaust carrier pipe that is tied to the inlet manifold. It forces the inlet manifold to keep its temperature higher - that way the fuel mixture does not become un-suspended.
They can get blocked by rocky carbon and soot. I take an oxy-acetylene torch - use the flame to heat up the innards from a corner - then turn off the acetylene and feed the fire just oxygen - it will start to move to the other end - you can see the redness start to move - keep on going till it clears the pipe, beware of massive sparks flying out the open end of the pipe..
If you have a sudden stalling problem coming off long or high rpm runs or popping exhaust your heat riser is probably blocked
