Im getting a Vw Beetle 70+` .. All original from window knobs to engine .. Car is without bumpers and is standing for the last 5 years .. Colour is That orange which comes in Beetles .. What should i offer ?

Can guide you if you post some (read many!! ) pics here of the bug in question.

How do you know its original??? Just because the seller says so or you know your bugs???

If its grounded for the past many years, do expect that you would be required to do quite a bit to bring it to life. Whats your location, which city?? Any VW (or car) is restorable but are you up to the challenge???

Cannot say much about what you can offer. Last time I checked, a bug was going for 25 to 30k as scrap. Thats the rock bottom by the kg price for a project car.

Well honestly that is exactly what I had in mind, but my uncle (for some dumb-as* reason told the denter to start working on it). When I told him I'll get the restoration done from a VW expert in the beginnning of 2011 after I get a good amount of fund's in my hand. Don't know what to do at all right now

Finally I have received my first ever shipment of parts for my Super Beetle ’74.

Here I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Rehan Bhai and Storm who had been very kind in guiding me for the right purchase of these parts.

Now these are some quality bits....... Where are the ball joints Made in??? 

That dome light is Hella :D Sweet! Please share your experience with shipping these bits into the country. The dos and do nots.

Can you believe what I saw a couple of days ago???? An original convertible bug alive and kicking on the road!

Spotted it near Gizri, chased it at once but a Police blockade pulled it aside for a check as one of the passengers was sittin on top of the folded down top......:*

Sorry but had no camera on me so no pics. Followed the car and as soon as it stopped had a chat with the owner.....unfortunately he was unable to comprehend when I told him about our club and was suspicious I had some commercial interest in him or the car. He thought I wanted it for some publicity stunt or something.....

The bug was complete down to all the bits in the top, the rear glass window, Sunvisors etc etc......it was a 1972 1302S Superbug. Top mechanism worked like a charm.....

I had spotted this car a few months back as a project when it was at a denters at Saddar........had been unable to stop as I was heading somewhere in a cab and the area was jam packed.......tried to trace it after a couple of days but found it gone.....and now it surfaces, all in a shiny new red!!

And before anyone even says it.....the bug is strictly NOT for sale!

you got me thinking last night.....what wrong could I be doing with the VW to deserve such a remark from Romano...my VW guru

went to my denter in the morning....shared the remark with him....got him heated up :). Muntazir, the guy working on the split is a the best denter I have come across in Pakistan.....I remember when he was working for me at Bristol Motors, I saw Javaid Ibrahim standing behind him and watching him intently. Later he told me that this guy is a good denter....Lala Aziz marhoom said the same...He made new bonnets from scratch for a 1929 Packard, a 1934 Austin 10/4, Yawer's MGB Roadster and Imad's GT 6. Made Continental kits for Dawood's Cadillac and Jim's 56 Bel Air.

But all said and done, expert opinion is always welcome and I 'll be asking you guys for assistance and information whenever required. will post some pics tonight.

Got a call from the Karachi denter. Wanted to get some tips on doing the split window bug. We have agreed to have a detailed talk very soon, plus I have asked him to chat with Babar too.
Asad, great news about the 1302 Karmann. That brings the total known 'verts to 5 right?
Two 1303s(one blue, one yellow), one red 1302, one 69 (beige, and more details needed), and Nasir Shaikh's 1967(ex Aslam Azhar). Any others out there?

One of my seniors at the office just got a Bus done (almost) and want it to be like a camper. Does anybody have some bright ideas where this can be done here in khi for designing the interior to make a prop camper?

Please share who's the best to contact for the job.

Najeeb talked to me about it. He wanted a westfalia styling. I told him to look up some inspirations on the net and let me know. I can then refine the designs as per his specs and liking and get it made at my shop...no biggie

I dont think there is anyone in Karachi or for that matter the country who can replicate a camper interior from scratch. What he needs to do, if hes up to it, is get hold of as many pics as possible of original camper interiors, join an international forum or two and ask people for measurements from their own campers and then set about to find a most cooperative carpenter who can follow instructions. The owner would have to sit with the carpenter while he does most of the major design cutting. Its not going to be easy if he wants something even half decent. Difficult but possible.

Ahan Ahan... I know a guy who own an original westfalia and i can take Najeeb to this guy only if that guy gives me the permission to show his westfalia as he's a mean guy...lol.

More on Westfalia (i guess it's 78's):

The body is ready for the paint job, engine(1800) is gone but still can be saved. The interior is all majood...lol (just the bed hanging from the roof is missing).

If we are lucky enough to have an example, it should not only be photographed but measured thoroughly for all dimensions. And ideally, though it wont happen, partially dismantled to see the actual design structure etc.

Hey, why dont you post pics of your Karmann Ghia here?? There were some pics on the VCCCP pages but the Ghia deserves more attention. So please share some pics of the exterior, interior, engine bay etc......

One more camper for the road, a guy owned a 1956's split window and will share ideas in helping out Najeeb's Camper.

Asad, I understand what all of us would like to see here but let's hope i'll manage my way to show all the details or at least pull Najeeb here in this thread so the story can be shared by himself.

BTW: It's an automatic (original:1974) and a 2200 cc.

u can barge in anytine...I am home for two days and then Sunday....welcome anytime. I met Amin sb. the other day.....took him to see the beetle...saw his engine at the workshop being overhauled. Here's one pic shoing Amin sb inspecting my car.

@ Uzair Alvi.. I see your car every day, parked outside our office and It inspired me to buy the 1961 deluxe from Aleem as a birthday present for my wife and now getting it restored COMPLETLY...

The car needed a serious detailed restoration job and I couldn’t have taken the mission ‘almost’ impossible for anyone but my wife!

The denting job is being done by Ali Akhtar (Golra morh RWP), the floorpan is completely redone with a new head that was very difficult to find but worth all the efforts. It is now with Ilyas (G-8) for mechanical refurbishments. Have found most of the parts from RWP, LHR & KHI but still need help to finish the project neatly.<o:p></o:p>
