X, been to Karachi a couple of times on mine. No issues at all. Nasir Shaikh has been up to the Chinese border via the KKH. We also did a group drive to Naran some years ago, 2003 to be exact.

sweet - I drove my 1302 to a few cities in Sindh and even some in Balochistan too, I loved the suspension movement and handling, not to mention the more than ample torque the 1600 DP shoved out.

People used to stare in disbelief at an aircooled VW bug passing their corollas at 65mph - sweet memories.

guys i was on the beetle quest yesterday and went to places like

Akhter denter- haji camp
Baber denter-God knows where!

and saw some beuties ... but still cant find one for myslef... so ppl in isb/rwp plz step forward and help...

I appriciate the efforts of some PWlers like Asadishaque and Romano they are very helpful even being so far and busy in their lives but yet to reach a point....

A nominal membership fee can help many if it’s used for arranging regular shows, seminars with rare parts available there that can be imported from the fund…
Please don’t mind if all has already been considered / worked on previously.. I was just thinking out loud for the club.

Shahzeb, this member is looking for a clean 45 yr old car , and has no budget. I understand one can get a clean shell for around 50k, but a running car costs way more than that. A VW that has got all the right mechanical parts, plus new tyres, and good upholstery, that not cheap any more!
Clean restored, or very original cars always come out costing less in the end, and lets not forget the time, blood, sweat and tears, not to mention numerous roadside breakdowns "project" cars 'present' you with!
Quality tells long after the price is forgotten.

I may be not the right person to talk much about the Beetle that we all love... but I guess we all can have one BEETLE that suits our budget... I am not talking blind.... ppl have got beetle for 50 k then restored it (not to the perfect quality but decent) and the cost was around 100,000 to 150,000 in total ... they are running good..that is what I am looking for too....

just to get decent denting and paint job...

now denting is for 50k and for 20k

paint job is form 10k to 50k even more maybe....

parts all new german or maybe second hand in good condition.....

so when i visit the workshops I see many examples where ppl have cars less than 200k ...

maybe I have come to the wrong place and demanded some wrong things..for that I APOLOGIZE to waste any of the respected memebers' time..

fired up the 1303 after a long time (3-4 weeks), she was a little low on oil and need a quick cleaning of hte plugs etc. was great fun to drive after so long but i was thoroughly disappointed at the fact that it took quite some time to warm up (though this is a great sign on an aircooled car - means my fan/oil cooler setup is bang on)

also i REALLY need to get the 34 carb on her as the performance is dead when i compare it to a modern car. god knows when i'll have time to finish both my VW projects....

Bought this '63 Deluxe Bug from Lahore, brought in on a car-carrier and arrived in ISB yesterday, after spending more than 20 years in Lahore. Went today to pick her up and saw her for the first time.

As her former owners drove her exclusively on CNG for over a decade, the fuel system was predictably dry and couldn't get her to start, so I ended up towing her home.

My heartfelt thanks to Shahzeb for negotiating the deal, Sultan Sb in Lahore for completing the purchase and Maaida for arranging the whole thing.

As it turned out, the car is pretty good...worth the frantic effort.

Don't despair. Although it isn't as easy to get a good VW within a reasonable budget as it used to be, have some patience and the right thing will show up sooner or later: my own experience from many years.

There are enough cars in PK. Do bear in mind that you may not be able to find exactly what you want very close to home, so be prepared to travel further afield.

In the meantime, there is a very nice looking '66 1300 Bug in ISB (beige) IDA no. for sale in the classifieds section. Check that out.
