Don't despair. Although it isn't as easy to get a good VW within a reasonable budget as it used to be, have some patience and the right thing will show up sooner or later: my own experience from many years.

There are enough cars in PK. Do bear in mind that you may not be able to find exactly what you want very close to home, so be prepared to travel further afield.

In the meantime, there is a very nice looking '66 1300 Bug in ISB (beige) IDA no. for sale in the classifieds section. Check that out.

well thanks for the advise..and yes patience is a virtue... so I will wait to get a good car in the budget ... and meanwhile if ther eis anything you guys come across plz do let me know...and I am ready and accept the fact that the car may not be near to my home ... and am prepared to travel;)

hey all, How much do you guys think this car is worth based on the looks? also, it doesnt have a roof, so ill have to get one of those convertable ones made. any estimate of how much those would be made for? and are they trouble ? trying to upload pictures

fired up the 1303 after a long time (3-4 weeks), she was a little low on oil and need a quick cleaning of hte plugs etc. was great fun to drive after so long but i was thoroughly disappointed at the fact that it took quite some time to warm up (though this is a great sign on an aircooled car - means my fan/oil cooler setup is bang on)

also i REALLY need to get the 34 carb on her as the performance is dead when i compare it to a modern car. god knows when i'll have time to finish both my VW projects....

1.How do you came to know that it is warming itself?

1. all engines behave differently when they have warmed up as to when they are cold. my car is very hesitant to idle when cold and has a very rough and unpredictable powerband due to the small carb (31PICT) on a 1600.

2. i've got a 34PICT and an original carb rebuild kit, will fit it one day,.. if i have the time,.. along with the rest of the stuff lying around my house.

Poor bug is right! Darn, what a waste of a perfectly good 68-69 Bug. My own motto is: only buy a car without a roof if it came that way from the factory. Applies particularly to Beetles, not only because of their increasing rarity here, but also because a major source of the structural integrity of the Beetle design is thrown out the window with most "chop tops" - but see Storm's earlier Spyder, a job well done.

I'm sure most would agree here that although there are many ways to tastefully modify an old VW, making body modifications or structural alterations is not one of them. Not worth the money, son - no matter how cheap. This one looks especially crude.

thanks aleem. i guess ill let it go. though it looked kind of hot to me, im guessing ill be investing in trouble since yea, the cut, did seem very very crude. and mere roof job wouldnt seal the deal.
