i have a 1967 beetle and my indicator handle besides steering is broken. i have opened it and repaired the handle but couldn't get the indicators work as it was assembled back wrong. can anyone help me with a circuit diagram and how does it work when closed. do someone has tried to open their indicator handles? i am in PK now and a new one is not available in market...

as far as i know you cannot get moulded carpets for VW's anywhere in PK. just for the local cars (hondas, suzukis & toyotas etc).

if you're looking for the highest quality VW carpet (german square weave) then it is best you check out a company called TMI, nobody can match them (commercial) thought there are a few people in germany who still have original VW carpet pieces which would be crucial if trying to restore a split window.

i'd suggest you just go for pieces like the car came with from the factory, for that you can contact Ishaq ustaad in pindi on 03215833188. he's done my 1303 & 68 delux, i've had no complaints till now with his workmanship. he's a little expensive but still i think it's worth spending once and doing it right.

been busy this sunday, i present to you "the impostor" (read the plate).

it's a 1969 1500 deluxe, and still with the original owner (since new) and all numbers are matching with the original book. Romano came over to the owners house last night for a quick once-over,.. now the hard part of sourcing parts...

This would be from a 67 as the 67 came with the headlight dipper switch in the arm (as opposed to it being controlled by the foot) (another of the 'firsts' the 1967 model year came with..)

The assembly of this switch is not a very complex operation but it helps if you remember what it looked like when you opened it. I see that you are in Karachi but if you want and can send it to Islamabad to Romano or one of the club members Khalid electrician is an expert in renovating these. He has a box full of switches that he uses for parts and I am sure he can put together a working assembly for you.

If all else fails let me know and I'll send you a used one from Canada for about $25

i live in islamabad and am serious about buying a VW beetle in good condition but cannot find any. plz help me out guys..!!
and one question...someone told me today that beetle fails on hilly areas, i.e., it overheats due to the engine being located in the back...is this true??

Buddy i drove to Khunjerab with my wife and three kids ...Khunjerab is about 15,500 ft and i don't think it gets any hilly than that. The car went and came back like a charm..we crossed many landslides, on our way up and a massive mud slide near Kohistan on our way back....like a charm!!!
