Previous owner Secretary information(Naseem Ahmad) in the '70s? If I remember correctly, this gentleman had two. The second was/is white, and is probably still around. Last seen a couple of years ago in the blue Area Islamabad. Reg plate 6161.
Would be interesting to photograph them together

you never know....I have found parts in Pakistan when people saw my car and remembered...'oh my father had a beetle. We still have its 'thing' you put tissue paper box on" ..turns out it was a genuine parcel shelf and they gave it to me for free.

it would be amazing to find a forgotten beetle stored in someones garage. Romano and I found one in Rawalpindi that had an inch of dust and while the interior was all original it had wall to wall cobwebs. Turns out the car belonged to the late father of the people and they couldn't decide what to do with it. Restoration was not their forte, driving it was not a priority but they just wanted to hold on to it as Abba ki nishani..

ah yess...storing a nishani till it rusts to the ground is always better than giving it a loving home and seeing it out on the street every now and then i always say!!

exactly our point. Looking at the way 'Abba" maintained the car in his life, I was sure he'd be turning in his grave

Does anyone know what was the chroming scheme before 1965? May be just a coating of nickel and two coatings of chromium (copper plate coating added in 1965)?

Not a clue about your question. But this just gave me a question of my own...cant we get this exact step by step process followed here in Pakistan and get good quality chrome done on our bumpers...it might cost us, but then again, the last chrome lasted 40 years...so its worth it really...no?

a split window VW Kombie (Safari Windows) 1958 rescued and in safe environment now.....got this yesterday and brought it home. I am getting in two men to clean the rust and will put a coat of primer on it to prevent further rusting.....engine will go for overhauling after eid....Inshallah will make it running soon...then it goes to the denter.

WOW original Safari windows! I hope you got them with the bus. The bus looks fairly complete and compared to your other projects should be relatively easy to put back on road. Best of luck!

yes, I love the safari windows.....he had taken them off and will be handing over to me today....he has to find the seats and headlights for me...

How about the papers and the previous owner(s) history and history of the bus itself?

What about the glass? Is all the pop out windows/windscreen glass there and intact? And the suspension bits? What about the motor? I believe its going to be something of later era...may be a 1300?

The pop out frames rust out pretty bad but the good news is that they are available new. It would be surprising if the original motor is found with the bus. It would probably be good to keep it in the garage than the bus itself. A good 1.6 would propel the bus nicely.
