@reezvaan i might be wrong...but as per my knowledge, didnt the 1303 have curved windscreen? doesnt the flat windscreen suggest a 1302? what other major difference do the 2 have? and the S...how does that differ from the simple 1303 ?

Romano ordered a Freeway flier transmission for his bug that I brought along in October.

The tranny was built by Thom Leduc of Leduc Racing Components in Michigan USA - the same gentleman who put together the transmission for Billo. Basically it is a new 3.88 ring and pinion, new pinion bearings, new syncro rings, welded and honed 3rd and 4th. The 4th is a 0.89 which is practically a 5th gear. All of this is fitted in a later model case. In addition to the above, the transmission has a brand new nose cone, a brand new hockey stick and all new hardware including drain and fill plugs...it is about as close as you can get to a factory new transmission.

New German engine and gear mounts (foundations) and a Kennedy stage 1 clutch (pressure plate) and a Daikin disk (clutch plate) were added to complete the picture.

After all was done and dusted, I took the car for a test drive on the Islamabad Peshawar motorway at night (when it is less likely to be snagged in a speed trap). Romano had visited Murree and Patriata the day before so had all seats and matting (save the drivers) removed. As a result it was noisy like hell in the cabin but the car launches like a beast and the speedometer needle keeps climbing. I took her a shade over 85 miles / hour but I have no doubts that it would go to about 100 miles an hour if one was to push it.

Next time a friend of yours narrates a story of an odd shaped car overtaking them at high speed on the motorway ask them what colour it was. Chances are it would be Billo or Romano's.

Stage 1 clutch plate? Was this the surprise that @Storm mentioned about @Romano's Bug?

Am a regular visitor of this forum for quite some time. Was looking for a bug and finally got one to my liking. Its been a month since I got it and have done the following minor work done on it:
1. Servicing / changing of faulty lights (bulbs only)
2. New plugs
3. Servicing of carborator (now it starts swiftly in mornings)
4. Wheel balancing / alignment

I would need input / help of this forum to keep it running and for periodic maintainence. For now I need help in 2 things:
1. The meter is not working (fuel gauge and the speed dial). Where can I get it repaired in Pindi / Islamabad?
2. There is a THUD sound from left rear tyre on jumps. The shock is fine. Its some bearing or joint that needs repairing / replacement. R these parts available. And whom do u suggest I visit to get it rectified in Pindi / Islamabad.

For the speedometer and the fuel gauge you can visit another Khalid in Islamabad. Located in G-8 he is the best electrician working on Volkswagens (and other cars) in Rawalpindi / Islamabad these days.

The thud could be worn out bushing that seats the rear torsion plate. very easy to spot by doing a visual check but to rectify you'll have to visit a mechanic and be forewarned, if it is the bushing that needs to be replaced it may require part removal of the rear fender to access the area. Khalid is your best bet as he performs these 'procedures' almost on a weekly basis. Just day before yesterday I saw him do that on a white 1302.

The D- ring was bought in the US for $45 and I paid another $8 or so for its shipping. The steering wheel was cheaper at about half that.
