Once upon a time, I brought my '59 Beetle from Pakistan to the UK when I moved. It was quite a task; suffice to say, the local VW restorer here in Surrey was horrified and baffled in equal measure at the true inside state of the car. Kudos to our Desi mechanics for keeping it on the road, more filler than metal, complete with the Dalda-tin floorpan and all.

Still parked at the very same spot after losing all her identity in the confusion. One days he was the bug from Peshawar...the next she was a bug from Pindi...sometime a 58 ..sometime a 60...she herself doesnt know who she is anymore. What a waste... last saw her parked behind that very fence 2 days ago...

not sure who owns the ragtop any more. As for the bus, The one at Babars was up for sale last I checked. The one with Arshad is not however. Have tried to get that one a lot but to no avail sadly.

Announcing the rescue of the rag top 59!

Yes it is true. i have acquired the 59 ragtop from the kabaria and am planning a body off. However I am also considering fitting the restored body on a late model chassis giving it the advantage of modern suspension and transmission. The restoration is still in its planning stage but the good thing is that I have all the right bits already for the body including the correct 4 fenders. the 4 tab hood, the pair of ice pick doors and the decklid. The rear apron has been changed too and I'll try and find one in the US this summer. Other than that it is all systems go.

The interior has been 'upgraded' but I am in a position to reverse the mods with original parts. Thankfully it is pretty much original and has not been butchered to accommodate a modern stereo or anything

The ragtop is all complete and slides effortlessly. Surprisingly the original Golde handle is still there.

This is my 72 baywindow that started its life as an ambulance but covered only 53,514 miles on Pakistani roads and has remained parked for most of her life.

She was rescued a few months back and has underwent a complete re-doing of engine and mechanicals. As we near the paint stage I have had panels re-sprayed in the original shades that VW offered in the baywindow bus (and those that I like )

Its a tough choice and you are welcome to offer suggestions.

The lime green is actually Bali Yellow L62H and one of my favourites.. Thanx.
