Illyas Mechanic and his boy Shahid in I&T Centre, G-8/4, Islamabad is also considered as good mechanic. I have seen many beetles here and few talks, they were satisfied with the mechanic. He don't have special workshop like Khalid sb but works good.

It is my 1st car memory and my dad who is a Beetle enthusiast at one time had a total of 4 beetles in our garage Here's a little history of this miraculous German wonder: 'The history of the Beetle really goes back to pre 2nd world war Germany when Ferdinand Porsche had a vision of a mass produced vehicle that was affordable to the average German, an idea that was shared with the young Adolf Hitler who himself could not drive, but was a car fanatic. Hitler was apparently influenced by the achievements of Henry Ford and his production lines - reading Ford's biography while in prison during 1923. Porsche had previously worked on some other small cars that used many elements later to be included in the Beetle. You'll be very very lucky if you find one... Better to rebuild the motor that you've pulled out as most of the engine's that you would buy from the market would come with even more surprises then the one you took out of the car...

and try going for a single port rather then a dual port...

would have rebuilt my own motor if it was in a state of being restored the thing is main block is rusted from one edge and as block can not be repaired there is no other option rather then to replace the block or engine.already have located more then 5blocks/engine some dual port and others singlebolck of 1300cc,1547cc,1600cc are all same hence interchangeable

 Can you post pics of the rusted block??? If its damaged a bit from the outside, it can be good to go. If from the inner side esp on critical areas, its important that it is not damaged in any way.

 Yes, the 1300, 1500 and 1600 blocks can be interchanged. Hassan Azeem has a good point favoring single port motors since the dual port setup is another potential failure point in terms of leakages. I'm happy that Hassan is coming up with good advice already, being a relative newbie here.

There were 2 dual port 1600 motors with pappu last month and a few blocks were available at Nisar's as well...

Ask khalid sb what way he would like to go... we did check out the motors pappu had but they wernt worth the effort and money...

my 1200cc motor from the 1303 would also be free in a few days... let me know if your interested...

If its only the block then i think Khalid sb has a few lying around as well...
