Vtec engine life

According to Honda workers, average life of honda vtec engine is about 3 lacs, no matter petrol or CNG...Is it right.....what is the key to keep your engine intact for long especially using it on CNG

hmmz 3 Lacs that is a lot i feel max u will get will be around 2 lacs to 2.25.....

engine life depends on how the engine is used. i can show you how to kill an engine in 1000 kilmeters if you wish.

as for the comment from the honda workers they said "average" that would mean some last more and some last less,... for some reason i doubt that figure.

@storm bhaee.....the head mechanic at honda recommended that the vtec engine should be dragged but carefully once in like two or three months. This way all accumulated carbon gets emmitted and the engine stays fine. However Honda recommended oil be regularly used and all service be done from authorized dealers and it runs longer like anything...what does your expertise say?? I am asking all this coz i recently bought a 03 vti on CNG and the previous owner used it the same way honda recommended and the car is perfect....70k driven

@nos....you mean taking rpm to red.........what about honda's recommendation of dragging it carefully once in three months

This cant be Honda's Recommendation this must be by some Mechanic working over there...

I guess using good oil and changing it on time will take care of the deposit problems and modern engine oils are very good at it..

I think around 1.5Lac is an average life of almost all engine stock internals.

Yes that's what i mean and u can blow it to pieces by taking of the rev limiter from the ECU(after chipping it offcourse) and Rev it to around 12000+rpm and another great idea to blow an engine is to inject 200+shots of NOS into the engine(plz don't try this i'm just kidding)and see the engine internals explode and the car explode as well.

IT depends how u drive ... if u keep ur rpm on 5 or 6 all the time ur engines life wil be 1 lac ... e.g if i drive its life wil be 1 lac or ma dad drive it life wil be 3 lac km hehehehehhe

occasionally it is good to rev and engine but only once it is warmed up and not for too long.

like NoS_1 said don't over rev it, specially when the engine is cold.

i agree, i think 1.5 is averqage and 3 is the highest number.

@storm bhaee...i havent tried but the previous owner of my car told me that vtec engine does not rev to the red level and it stucks by 6.... is its so............he was like this is why these engines are so durable

That's cuz of the rev limiter.
@Vaqas1 & all
if u wanna keep your efi engine's life long,Don't rev it above 2500rpm when its cold,and don't rev it before turning the engine off like most Carby cars.
