VVTI vs Vtec Engine

i want to know what is difference between
Corolla se 2005 (16 valve twin cam engine) and Corolla gli 2013 (vvti engine)
and also want to know what is difference between Vtec, vvti and efi engines

SE Saloon 1.6 has 3ZZ-FE distributorless engine which is an improved version of 4A-FE, while Corolla GLi has 2NZ-FE 1.3 VVTi for better economy.
HONDA's VTEC is a valve train system to improve the volumetric efficiency of a four-stroke internal combustion engine. It not only varies the timing but also lift the valves, while TOYOTA's VVTi varies the timing of the intake valves by adjusting the relationship between the camshaft drive (belt or chain) and intake camshaft. It does not lift the valves but uses only the timing aspect.

vtec and vvti both are technologies designed by the Honda and toyota respectively, to put together great fuel economy without sacrificing performance, the VVTi uses variable valve timing to acheive the above stated objective, more or less, but VTEC incorporates variable valve timing control plus variable valve lift in order to acheive the above stated objectives...
thats the most simplified version of the story but im hoping u still won't understand...!!
