Dear Pakwheelers, As-salamoAlaikum,
I want to share my first D.I.Y with you which I did on my B5 Passat 1.8T Tiptronic, model 2000 GLS engine code (ATW), mileage is 153,000 Km.

Last December I was doing routine checkup on my car like checking oil levels and vaccume lines. During the checkup I was surprised to see that engine oil level was below the half mark on dipistick. Upon further visiual inspection of engine sides, I found two oil leakage areas.
1) At the backside of engine- Camchain tensioner sealing
2) On the left side of the engine, below throttle body-
PCV (Positive Crank case Ventilation) pipe (Cracked).

Before attempting D.I.Y, I first researched it on internet. (www.passatworld.com) and (www.audiworld.com) proved to be the best websites in helping me.
spancolor: #0033ff""Parts needed:
I needed 2 major parts to replace.1)Cam.tensioner seal
2)PCV pipe. Since, I was already there I also replaced valve sealings, front camshaft sealing, PCV valve, PCV o-ring, PCV T-joint, and some pinch clamps with regular clamps for breather pipe. Some parts I bought from http://vwaudiparts.ca/ (valve sealing kit) and some from the dealer (PCV pipe, PCV valve and o-ring, PCV T-joint. All together parts were around $150. Stealership was asking around $1000 for parts and labour, ridiculous.

1) It looks easy in pictures, but actually its not, its tiring too.
2) Cold weather (although I was working in my garage with heater on).
3) Droped 2.5" camshaft bearing cap screw below tensioner (where the engine oil comes from the bottom of the engine for camshaft lubrication) thus blocking it:-O. I had to buy a screw grabber with magnetic tip to retrieve it.
4) Could not find chain tensioner retainer tool. Since, dealer sells it with new tensioner. I made my own by using zip-tie (desi tarika).
5) PCV pipe and PCV T-joint was like fused together, I had to use WD-40 several times to make it loose.
6) My hand hit the working light and droped it on the floor, broke the bulb

*Some pictures I took after DIY (engine bay).
*This DIY will also help AUDI A4 1.8T and B5 PASSAT 1.8T
owners with the engine code of (AEB),(ATW). I think
camshaft sealing procedure is same for engine code
(AUG) and (AWM).
***Finally by the Grace of ALLAH all went pretty good.
Alhumdulillah engine is running good now, no oil
starvation.

Please let me, how was my DIY job?, any suggestions/recommendations/and precautions would be welcome (so, it can benefit me other DIYers).
Thank You.
