i just wanted to thank reezvaan for his immense support and help, he was even kind enough to email me a mouth watering goodies list he kindly made available to myself. bhai i will be getting back to you on that list in coming week, as i just wanted to wait till i really know what do i need as i am revisiting the mechanics once we are nearly done with the dent/panel works. as it would be easier for you to ship all the goodies in one go

also i would like to take the opportunity to thank @Nashtrooper @xulfiqar @Lazeez @storm for their help and advise i also wanted to mention my mate MUSTAFA who is not on PW for being there and supporting me enough to start this project and also another guy AKHTHAR BHAI who i met on cheap autos for giving me the contacts i desperately needed. its more of YOURS project thn its mine

BDW i had no luck with the running boards although i have visited shaboo chacha, basit and sajid. all of them had them but the quality was BAD and i mean it. the running boards were made outta really cheap and thin sheets. now we are fabricating our very own ones plan is to use such a gauge of sheet which last a little longer thn the pepsi can material they used. please advise me anything i need to bear in mind doing so

Just saw the post, yeah these are not original to the car as the front seats in VWs weren't fixed.

I recall I have a complete set of post 71 bugs in sight with some kabari here in Multan. If you want I can put you through to him as far as I remember he was asking about 5k for the whole set and I am not sure if he would part with just the front two. The seats however were in original black vinly in relatively good shape at that time (some two months ago).

Bringing those over to KHI would be another detail which you'll have to look into before you decide on buying from Multan.

thanks Reezvaan, i guess i am not gonna go for the seats in multan as i kind of need them asap so that my mechanic can start the car again and start driving around. as i am revisiting the mechanics of the car after you guys strongly suggested me to do so . appreciate the help though bdw i stalked patina on FB it luks better there thn it luks on PW

Seats should not be a problem to find. At any given time, there are always seats in decent shape available because every other bug owner here replaces his original seats for japanese ones even though the originals were in great shape. I saw a pair of seats a few days ago at sajid's. You could check them out.

Hey guys after days of having NO luck and NO hope i had the most rewarding Saturday yesterday. i manage to achieve the following daunting tasks;

Headlights found and bought
Headlight chrome rings found and bought
Wheels found and reserved picking up next week
Chromed new Wheel hub found and bought
Adjustable Beetle Front seats found and reserved picking up next week
Chromed side mirrors found and bought
Tail lights found a place to get the covers made
Pair of rear fenders found and bought
Quarter glass found and reserved picking up next week

Last two weeks were not the best didn’t get much done on car as the denter had some family issues :-#
But yeah we are back in action. I am really over the moon:D, the stuff I manage to find this Saturday I was looking for a month now and I cannot believe how I manage to get it all sorted in a day. (H)

hey guys i have three questions your suggestion would be highly appreciated

A: is it ok to install rear pop open windows?

B: is it ok to cut the dash board a little more and install a LCD there. i am talking abt widening up the radio slot. ps i am doing so as i can not find all the knobs to go there. ie hazard knob and environmental control knob

C:suggestion on upholstery and body color please. not coloring the beetle black.

i need the following knobs for my beetle. has to be same look as the one in the pic.
Hazard light
Windscreen vipers
Black Environment Control
ashtray (as seen in the above pic)

A- Perfectly OK
B- Do not cut the dash just because you cant find the knobs!!! I have a pair of (I think) Good Used Black Environtment Control (aka Fresh Air Control) Knobs as well as a (I think) NOS Black Headlight Switch Knob. You can have them for the price I sourced them.
C- Matter of your own preference/choice. I would have chosen bone stock year correct colors of both.

if they look same as the pic i just uploaded i would love to have them of you

guys can you please advise if these are the original seats for the car. I guess i have to replace/upgrade them as these seats are fixed. they dont slide back and forth as the normal seats please help

Another VW resto thread! Good!!

Contrary to what everyone's been telling you, these are original 1974 vintage seats. I strongly recommend you do NOT change them. Vitz seats or corolla seats, no seat fits better than VW original units.

You do need a set of plastic bushings to restore the sliding mechanisms. Unfortunately these are available as a kit abroad only. Cheap to purchase but expensive to get across. You may be lucky if you have family/friends traveling to Pakistan.

Original VW seats are interchangeable between the following years......early to 1970......1971 to 72.......73 to later........there were three styles of sliding mechanisms.

I have this fear that the denter you have engaged is not experienced with VWs, else he would have told you these were the original seats......or maybe he wants to avoid any 'extra' work and just slap on some Jap units.....typical....

how ironic the day i gathered these are original i found a post from you confirming so well the plan has changed since. i am not slapping no jap seats, i managed to find myself a nice pair of seats (sliding ones of course) with original leather a real eye candy i guess i still need to go for a new upholstery but yeah i am keeping it all original
