WagonR 2016 engine was sealed using Magic Elfy instead of bolts

Dear PakWheelers,

I need your honest advice regarding an issue with my 2016 WagonR's engine.

I purchased the car in April 2025. At the time of purchase, the only visible issue was with the “hissa,” which I got fixed the very next day.

However, now after 2–3 months, I discovered that the engine was sealed using Magic Elfy instead of proper bolts. My mechanic has now recommended replacing the entire assembly.

I’m unsure about the best course of action. Please advise what would be better:

• Replace the engine assembly
• Find a skilled mechanic to rebuild the engine completely and fix it properly without using shortcuts like Magic Elfy (is it possible?)

You're saying your cylinder head was not bolted down to the block at all? How did your mechanic take the head apart?

Magic is epoxy, Elfy is an adhesive. Which is it?

Actually, some of the engine bolts were broken and had been "fixed" using epoxy (Magic). A few bolts were also slipped.

The latest issue is that engine oil is now leaking from the engine block (as per mechanic) exact spot is near gearbox. A few days ago, there was a problem with the gasket, and while getting that fixed, I discovered the use of epoxy on the engine.

Please advise on the best approach to properly fix this issue.
