have been using Honda Life for almost 6 months now. have taken the car from Lahore to Multan, Faisalabad and RYK many a times.. the experience was good and not at all a problem... The car gives me an average of 16.5 - 17 within city and 20-21 on long route....
my brother has a Mira (non EiS).. its also a good car and should definitely be preferred over Alto

Increase your budget to 10 lacs and get a 2010 Passo.
1000cc , best in its class.
Your next 5 years will go like a breeze

hehe your are right, but this is good, see i do not own JDM Alto so i should not comment on that because that can be biased. Anyway at Pakwheels we have Owner/Fan club, they are great source for potential buyers. Before buying PKDM WagonR, i went through most of the Owner/Fan club to make the decision, starting with Mira, Passo, Vitz, Swift, And i find PKDM Wagon R most suitable for MY NEED so i went for it.

My need were below

1) New car with warranty, do not want to spend my time on workshop at all.
2) Small car with ample space specially at backseat.
3) Fuel efficient on petrol, don't want to install CNG or wait in long queues.
4) Fits my budget of 11 lacs max.
5) Bank Lease car (3 years)

With all this need i went to Test drive WagonR and impressed by its Ride, at that time I was driving 2 cars at home, City 2012 and Mehran, driven Cultus both efi and non efi, Alto in past but NO JDM. So at test drive I found more things that Wagon R has to offer over my need.

Excellent AC, Soft steering, good dashboard and player, quite cabin, good brakes, high seating position.

OP, you might want to read the last three pages of this thread.

If you want to get JDM, get one that is atleast 1000cc. Otherwise, Wagon R will serve you best.

@ Khalid7shafqat ... i disagree here... infact i believe the best place to drive a JDM is on motorway.. press the pedal till it reaches 100 - 105 and then keep it there..
secondly these cars are built strong and sturdy.. have driven my Honda Life @ 120 for over 15 minutes.. no affects, no noise, no chan chan ..nothing. mind u the meter on Honda Life is upto 140 km/hr

Sir in my opinion If you want comfort and are happy on motorway @60-80kph jdm alto is a good choice but If you want more space, a car that can carry more weight and can do 100kph without engine being overwhelmed then I think wagon R is good choice.

Bro i also faced same scenario.
After lot of research i purchased wagon-r because of following points.
1. Zero meter
2. Fuel efficent
3. Very comfortable and big car look inside.
4. Good acceleration and a/c

Only fact about low sale of wagon-r is its shape. But its not too ugly as posted by many members in my opinion. Only from back side if you add spoiler then it is very acceptable.

I don't like suzuki at all but good thing should be appreciated I was thinking to advice op FAW v2 but he was interested in wagon r,alto,mira and in my opinion wargon r is better choice in all three of them

if you are not heavy on the pedal, can bear to drive up to 100 as you max speed and can bear a 10 min extra time on a 30 km journey then go for a JDM... its like a trouble free, almost maintenance free and a comfortable ride.
people who complain on the engine need to read the mechanics around it and first get out of the notion that japs are stupid for producing a car with 660cc. the same was the talk when i wanted to buy Vitz 5 years ago.. everyone was telling me how it was a 3 cylinder car, standing RPM was close to or above 900 etc etc... look on the roads and see the same car being driven by millions.
If Shitzuki does not improve the standards and the offering then people will gradually but certainly move to these JDMs.. they are comfortable, low on fuel, tough and will do anything that you expect a small sized car for a little family or a secondary car for some families.
all you need to do is keep the air filter clean and change the oil + oil filter after every 3000 kms... drive a Mira, Life, Moco and then decide. keep an eye on comfort, built quality, safety during possible accidents and maintenance. decide afterwards. I may be biased for some people but just like others all i am suggesting is what i believe is right and what i am ALSO doing on a practical front.

Wouldnt u recommend a Passo ? Bigger , fuel efficient as any JDM , 1000 cc , better resale than any JDM (2nd to vitz)

Brother you should consider Alto 660cc and as mentioned earlier, Nissan Otti and Mitsubishi EK wagon are a great choice too.
I have driven EK wagon a lot and its an awesome car! With all sort of premium goodies!

Stop being afraid of 660cc as a small displacement, engine power depends on compression ratio not CCs alone and these 660ccs are highly efficient.

As mentioned they can really touch their full meter, and goes to 100 and beyond like a breeze.. they are very stable on high speeds too!

And also... forget heat up issues! These are very well built cars!

Passo is a great car but compared to JDMs its heavy on fuel... secondly i personally can never get used to that crank shaft or lever underneath the steering that is used as a Gear... How can i recommend something if i dont like it for myself... it might be userfriendly for other but for me its a nightmare

@ Engineer1... please read my post again .. i said compared to JDMs ...
in my recent trip to RYK from Lahore Honda Life gave me an average of 19.5km/L... in a trip to FSD 3 weeks ago i had a average of 17.5 (speed was 110 + on motorway) within city it gives me an average of between 17 and 18... now please compare these with Passo ...
