Want to disable ABS in Toyota Platz

Dear All!

I have tried to search for it, but didn't find any related thread.

I have a Toyota Platz 2005 and I want to disable its ABS system. I know what I am doing, as I am an experienced driver.
Below is a photo of the fuse for ABS in Toyota Platz. I have read a lot about it, except specifically for Platz, that removing the fuse will disable ABS, but the only confusion I have, is whether to remove the current wire or not. So, I request experienced PakWheelers to help me understand, whether to remove the black wire (as shown in the photo below) or not. What is the function of this wire?

Yeh wahid mulk ha jis main logo ko abs se bhi masla ha aur motorcycle main se Awaz na aye to logo ko perashani ho jati ha ke motorcycle kharab ha . Noise pollution ka koi concept ha hi nahi . I bought my Platz, a little more than 1.25 years ago. This is my first ABS car, and almost from the 1st day of driving it, I wanted to disable the ABS system, since the brakes of Platz are great, Alhamdulillah, as long as the ABS is not active. As soon as ABS kicks in, I feel quite insecure, whether my car will stop at right time or not, in case of any emergency situation. Here I am copying comments of a couple of other drivers, which explain the problem a bit better.

"if you know what you are doing, there's nothing wrong with driving without abs. Old cars didn't have it... And in case of ABS it actually made it less safe to drive since it was always turning on for no reason."

"I unplugged the ABS fuse from my Toyata Yaris 2006 1.5 Hatchback CE to turn off the ABS system which was giving me trouble when trying to stop on snowy/icy roads. The car stops much better now, so that problem is fixed."

ABS would only kick in if the car is going into a skid after wheels have been locked by the brakes. It is a bit stupid to disable ABS.

Just remove that fuse & then see if ABS kicks in or not ? If its not kicking in then u r good to go & dont need to mess with the wiring for the sake of its next owner, who will be again going to post this issue here as "ABS not working, changed the fuse, tried everything" etc etc.

I once took a test drive of altis 08. ABS was not kicking in. its motor was malfunction and sign was visible in dashboard (check light). owner had disconnected wires to motor as well. So remove fuse and check if abs check light comes on, if it does you are good to go

Hmmm, god forbid, imagine you have to apply emergency breaks on a slippery road or during turning. I can well imagine what will be the outcome. Waisey daikha jaye to purani cars main to carb engine bhi hota tha

what my personal experience about ABS (after driving at least 25 years) that you should alter your driving style but not remove ABS as end of the day its life saving, however you must look which tyres you are using? good soft tyres will not engage ABS every now and then, same way hard tyres or over inflated tyres will cause ABS to kick in even in slow speeds. i personally missed confirm hit last week on my civic only due to ABS on multan road slippery and shiny patch!!!

Although respected PakWheelers have tried their best to provide me the solution, but I think I need to clarify (more), why I want to disable ABS in my car.
I live in Hyderabad, I have a shop at approx 5 kilometers drive. I go to shop and come back home. Other places I go, normally, are also 3 to 7 kilometers away. So, drivers can imagine my situation, driving in 2nd and 3rd gear for half of the time. If any vehicle in front of me, brakes harder, and I press my brakes harder too..., here starts the "feel quite insecure" scene. The ABS sensor just decides that wheels are jammed, and "kicks in". Aik dafa to mere saamne Civic 2016 thi, others can imagine the scenario.

Thanks to Allah, there hasn't been any collision yet.

ABS works on the principle, that once the wheel(s) are sensed jammed, just start working. That's it. There is no going back. ABS is not intelligent enough to judge the situation and decide whether to activate itself or not, and that creates problems.

@lazers Sorry dear, honestly speaking I took your reply a bit serious but no hard feelings here too.
See, that's the point. Civics have some of the best brakes available in vehicles driven in Pakistan, be it JDM or local assembled.

I own a 2002 Platz and ABS has helped me every time, specially on those stupid custom speed breakers on cement roads which are not colored and merge with road. ABS kicks in at the last spot and stops the car from going hard over the bump.

Removing ABS function will not increase the braking power, but it surely will reduce the control you have over your car in case of braking, Just last month I think a "burha baba" came in front of my car out of no where and I had to brake hard, ABS kicked in and saved him by an inch, without ABS the car would surely have skid.

Anyhow, remove the ABS fuse and see whether ABS kicks in,

And your issue of if the driver next to you brakes suddenly you lose confidence in you brakes then you are driving too close too him. Do not tailgate.

Great :). Sorry you took it seriously. My only intention was to convey the importance of ABS.
I previously owned a City and sometimes when I had to break hard I used to pump the break in order to avoid wheel lock. Initially I was a bit skeptical about ABS when I got civic but after a while, I realized it has helped me on many occasions from slipping. I suggest after removing the fuse, drive in a safe place and check if ABS is discontinued or not, as ABS light might still come on.
